The event that everyone around the world is paying the most attention to at the moment is the development of New Crown Pneumonia, and in order to effectively prevent the spread of the epidemic, many companies have switched to the production of medical equipment, which includes a large number of car companies. Recently, the news that Bosch, the world's leading automotive parts supplier, has launched its latest neocoronavirus detection program has been brushed aside.
Recently Bosch has announced that its latest fully automated rapid detection program for the new coronavirus can help medical institutions to achieve rapid diagnosis and effectively improve the speed of identifying and isolating infected people, thus helping to control the epidemic trend of new coronavirus pneumonia.
It is reported that Bosch's latest rapid test took only six weeks to develop. The test takes only 2.5 hours from sample collection to result presentation to determine whether a patient is positive for the new coronavirus. The new rapid test is one of the first fully automated molecular diagnostic tests available in the world and is suitable for use in all healthcare settings.
While many of the test solutions on the market today are already available in as little as 15 minutes, Volkmar Dunnell, Chairman of the Board of the Bosch Group, said, "Another advantage of the rapid test is that it allows the test to be performed at the point of care, which eliminates the need for sample transportation, and can buy valuable time for treatment. This is a huge advantage of the Bosch solution."
Bosch's rapid test solution was reported to be more than 95 percent accurate in all laboratory tests for the new coronavirus, and it meets World Health Organization (WHO) quality standards. The analyzer is so simple to use that even untrained healthcare workers can produce reliable results.
The test is performed by swabbing a sample from the patient's nose or throat and inserting a cartridge containing all the reagents needed for the test into the Vivalytic analyzer, so that up to ten tests can be performed with a single Bosch Vivalytic analyzer in a 24-hour period.
And in addition to testing new coronavirus samples, the rapid test program can also test for nine other respiratory diseases, including influenza A and B. Bosch said the newly developed test will be available in Germany starting in April, followed by rollouts in Europe and other parts of the world.
At present, the new coronary pneumonia is spreading globally, and a large number of medical supplies are in urgent need. At present, a number of car companies, including General Motors, Ford, Lamborghini, Tesla, Volkswagen, McLaren, Ferrari, Fiat Chrysler, and others, have begun to invest in the medical supplies in the conversion stage, even including some luxury brands have joined the production camp.
The United States even failed to reach an agreement with General Motors, directly and formally use the executive power granted by the Defense Production Act, requiring the United States General Motors, Ford, Tesla and other automobile companies to switch to the production of respirators. It is reported that GM and Ford, the two automotive giants, will be able to produce more than 50,000 respirators in the coming year alone.
In addition to the U.S., the German government is currently asking domestic automakers to consider producing medical devices, such as masks or respirators, in order to combat the rapidly spreading new coronavirus outbreak. The request is part of a larger initiative by the German government to develop engineering and production resources to address serious supply bottlenecks for critical medical equipment. Volkswagen, for example, has begun building protective mask capacity in China, where it will supply thermometers, masks, sterilizers and diagnostic equipment to German authorities.
The global spread of the new crown pneumonia, the impact on the entire global automotive industry is huge, many car companies even if they can produce new cars as scheduled, the final product may not be able to sell as scheduled, so the switch to the current urgent need for medical supplies is not a better choice. In the global fight against the epidemic, the greater the capacity, the greater the responsibility!
