City College of Dalian University of Technology was established in March 2003. In 2007, the College served as the executive director of the Teaching Research Association of China Independent College. In June 2020, the college moved to a new campus.

On April 28, 2005, at the 15 national conference on the construction of educational network system, the college was hired as the governing unit of China Education Development Network; In the same month, the College established the Basic Teaching Department and the Network and Computer Center.
