April 1, 1943, after seven years of painstaking preparations, Wujin County Hospital (Changzhou Second People's Hospital predecessor) was formally established, then the first public hospital in Wujin County. At the beginning of the establishment of the hospital, with 50 beds, medical equipment only 15 mA X-ray machine, microscope and single-head shadowless lamp each one, as well as commonly used surgical, obstetrics and gynecology surgical instruments, by Dr. Ding Ketzeng, the first president, and from Shanghai, Suzhou, internal medicine, ophthalmology, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology physicians 5, as well as nurse practitioners, nurses, nurses 6-7 people. At the same time also founded a nursing school, recruited 20 nursing students, together with administrative and miscellaneous staff totaling 52 people. The hospital set up internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, treatment of diseases is relatively simple, surgery can perform lower abdominal surgery, internal medicine can perform artificial pneumothorax, obstetrics and gynecology to perform forceps delivery and other difficult operations.
In 1945, after the victory in the war, the hospital was renamed Wujin Public Hospital.
On April 23, 1949, Changzhou was liberated and the hospital was renamed Changzhou People's Hospital.
August 1950, the hospital was renamed Changzhou Public Hospital in Southern Jiangsu Province.
In 1951, in the midst of the anti-U.S. war against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), some cities in Jiangsu Province set up rehabilitation hospitals to treat the chronically ill casualties of the volunteer army. On July 16 of the same year, the first batch of more than 100 chronically ill casualties of the Volunteer Army were admitted to the hospital. on August 15, by the Southern Jiangsu Provincial Administration directive, the hospital was officially renamed Changzhou Rehabilitation Hospital.
In February 1953, with the expansion of the scale, the hospital was assigned to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Health Rehabilitation Hospital Administration, renamed Jiangsu Province, the fifth rehabilitation hospital.
Early in 1956, the Fifth Rehabilitation Hospital of Jiangsu Province (the predecessor of the hospital) was transferred to the local area by the Rehabilitation Hospital Administration of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Health under the leadership of Changzhou Municipal People's Committee and was renamed as the Second People's Hospital of Changzhou City. On March 2 of the same year, the Municipal People's Committee decided to merge the Municipal Workers' Hospital with the Second Hospital. on April 7, the formal merger procedures. At that time, the hospital authorized 200 beds, 245 employees.
Just as the hospital was developing steadily, the "Cultural Revolution" turmoil brought devastating blows to the hospital, medical work was stopped.
Smashing the "Gang of Four", especially after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the hospital entered a period of rapid development.
In April 2013, the hospital ushered in the 70th anniversary.
