As of November 2019 there is only one tertiary hospital in Songjiang, the Shanghai First People's Hospital.
Shanghai First People's Hospital has one hospital and two districts, which are located at 85 Wujin Road, Shanghai, and 650 Xin Songjiang Road, Songjiang District, covering an area of 294,775 square meters.
On December 4, 2018, it was announced as the first batch of pilot hospitals for multidisciplinary tumor diagnosis and treatment by the National Health Commission.

Shanghai First People's Hospital (Shanghai General Hospital) was founded on March 1, 1864, and is one of the earliest comprehensive century-old hospitals in the country.It was renamed Gongji Hospital in 1877, and was listed as the Shanghai Red Cross Hospital in 1981. In 1992, it became one of the first Grade 3A general hospitals in China, and in 2002, it was crowned the First People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University.
In 2006, the hospital actively promoted the equalization of high-quality medical resources, and took the lead in setting up a branch in Songjiang District, creating a new pattern of "one hospital, two sites, staggered development". The hospital has been awarded the honorary title of National Top 100 Hospitals, National Advanced Unit of Health System, and National Advanced Unit of Creating Spiritual Civilization for many times.
