What team did Uncle Mutombo get drafted by?
Nuggets [English name] Dikembe Mutombo [Chinese translation] Dikembe Mutombo [Full name] Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo ( Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo) [Team] Houston Rockets [Position] C [Height] 2'18 , 7'2" [Weight] 120.2 kg, 265 lbs [Birthday] June 25, 1966 [University] Georgetown, Georgetown University [Draft] 1991 1st round, 4th overall to the Nuggets [Origin] Congo [Jersey Number] 55 07-08 Season Salary: $1.23 Million Contract Status: 1 year Base salary, signed on 2007/10/1, expires in summer 2008 Overall Evaluation A defensive-minded center who relies solely on his defensive presence to gain a foothold in the NBA. Strengths: 15-year NBA veteran's experience, use of height and length, jamming skills to fight for rebounds, and unparalleled judgment of the timing of a cap. Weaknesses: with the age of the body confrontation and speed is not as big as before, the means of offense is relatively single. Now the Houston Rockets play an important role as a substitute. Offense Comprehensive ability C Due to their own body muscle type and shooting touch, the role in the offensive end and the 90's four big center forward has a small gap, the main means of attack is the inside of the powerful dunk, second offense, and hook shot, basically no independent scoring ability, in the opposing side of the penalty area outside the threat of almost nothing, which is also the fundamental reason why he has not been able to reach the height of the four big centers. Career average contribution of 10.6 points Defense Comprehensive ability S The first year into the league with a surprising average of 12.3 rebounds and 2.96 caps to the Nuggets fans a surprise, careful fans found his body compared to the traditional center is a little thin, but the arm span of the super-long, and the speed of the bullet is not bad, relying on the absolute advantage of the two he can easily intercept the other side of the small players of the pass and shoot. Career four times the best defensive player (1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001) three times in the NBA best defensive lineup first team (1997, 1998 and 2001), three times in the NBA best defensive lineup second team (1995, 1999 and 2002) defensive merit can be seen. Tombo's elbow is also one of his heavy weapons, not in the critical moment will not be easy to use, in his career so far, 25 players have the honor of its elbow close contact, the most serious of the two is the 2001 hit Vince Carter's head, Carter missed six Eastern Conference playoffs; 2004 hit LeBron James face, James sent to the hospital on the spot. Let's just say his on-court intimidation is still there. Position Center, due to his strengths and weaknesses are equally obvious, center is the only role he can play is also fully competent, in this position as long as he gives him enough playing time averaging double-double for him easily. Even at the age of 40, he is one of the most efficient players in the league in terms of rebounds and caps. PLAYER EXPERIENCE Averaged 9.9 points (on a school-record 64.4 percent shooting) and 6.6 rebounds per game in 99 games for Georgetown. Averaged 15.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 4.71 caps per game as a senior, earning Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Big East honors, and was named to the Big East Tied for Best Defensive Team as a junior. Drafted by Denver with the fourth pick in the first round of the 1991 draft, signed with the Atlanta Hawks on July 15, 1996. traded to Philadelphia with Roshown Mcleond on February 22, 2001 in exchange for Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc, Nazr Mohammed and "Pepe " Sanchez. traded to New Jersey on August 6, 2002 for Keith Van Horn and Todd Macculloch. signed with New York on October 9, 2003. signed with New York on August 5, 2004 along with Othella Harrington, Frank Williams and Cezary Trybanski to Chicago for Jamal Crawford and Jerome Williams. traded to Houston on September 8, 2004 for Adrian Griffin, Eric Piatkowski, and Mike Wilks. Wears the largest size 22 basketball shoe in the NBA (Sahquilee O'neal wears the same size). Black 8 Miracle In the first round of the 1993-94 playoffs, the Denver Nuggets played the Seattle Supersonics, who finished first in the league in the regular season and for whom the odds of winning were very slim. The Supersonics had a 63-19 regular season record, the best in franchise history, while the Nuggets had a mediocre 42-40 regular season record and barely made the playoffs. The Supersonics took the first two games of the five-game, three-game elimination tournament without much effort, and it looks like they'll likely shut out the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, demoralized by the removal of their mental baggage, outscored their opponents 110-93 in Game 3, and then beat the Supersonics 94-85 in overtime in Game 4, leaving the teams tied at 2-2 and having to go back to Seattle for a decisive fifth game. Although the Seattleites made a full-court press in Game 5, it didn't keep the Nuggets busy, as the latter played like a seasoned veteran team, committing only 11 turnovers in the game. With the Nuggets intentionally slowing down the pace of the game on the offensive end, Mutombo dominated the interior defense, and the Nuggets ultimately beat the Supersonics 98-94 in overtime, eliminating their rivals from the tournament 3-2. When the final whistle blew, Mutombo grabbed the last rebound and lay down on the court, his face overflowing with victory, while his teammates pounced on him to celebrate. It was the first great Black 8 Miracle, and even though the Nuggets went 3-4 against the Utah Jazz in the subsequent second round, upsetting the top seed with the 8th seed in the playoffs was enough to make their trip to the playoffs a legend in the NBA. What he did earned him a humanitarian award from the NBA in 2001. That same year, he broke ground on a hospital in his hometown of Kinshasa, and in early 2004, the first medical facility in Kinshasa in forty years was finally completed. He himself donated 3.5 million dollars for the construction of the hospital. Mutombo doesn't know his exact date of birth, but made it up after he left for the U.S. After a successful block, Mutombo usually shakes his index finger at the player who was blocked. Mutombo is fluent in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Lingala, Chiluba, and several African dialects. Mutombo was also named to the 2002 NBA Interview Squad. Mutombo's shoe number is tied for first in the NBA with Shaq O'Neal: 22. As a rookie with the Nuggets, Mutombo once asked Jordan if he could shoot a free throw with his eyes closed. Jordan closed his eyes and scored, then told Mutombo, "Welcome to the NBA." In the 1997 NBA playoffs, Mutombo claimed Jordan had never dunked on his head. Jordan then managed to dunk on the game and mimicked his most famous finger-wagging maneuver on Mutombo. The result was a technical foul that the NBA deemed insulting to the opposing player.
