Tencent, which has invested more than 20 billion in medical and health care, has begun to focus on its own growth in recent years. Yiou Health reported on May 30 that Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tencent Cloud") On May 15, the business scope of Qichacha was changed, and new contents such as "Sales of Class III Medical Devices", "Medical Devices Class I and II, Computers, Software and Auxiliary Equipment" were added.
Yiouda Health's Qichacha data shows that Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was registered in October 2010 and is controlled by Shenzhen Century Triumph Technology Co., Ltd., with Ma Huateng indirectly holding shares.
Tencent Cloud’s original business core was customized industry solutions using cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence services. In terms of medical and health care, we mainly rely on public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud to provide medical and health cloud solutions for governments, medical institutions, pharmaceutical research and development and distribution, equipment, health care and other institutions.
If we start from Tencent Cloud’s own business, Tencent Cloud’s new medical device sales can be seen. In Tencent Cloud's "Smart Medical Institution Solutions" section, AI intelligent assisted diagnosis is an important part, and medical device sales qualifications can be said to be the "hand stuck in the throat" for the implementation of AI intelligent assisted diagnosis. .
At present, among the Chinese companies engaged in the research and development of AI intelligent auxiliary diagnostic products, there is no product that has obtained the registration certificate for Class III medical devices. However, there are already rumors that there is a sugar screen in the industry. Cha's auxiliary diagnosis products are applying for approval of Class III device certificates. If medical AI applications are to achieve a qualitative change from "auxiliary diagnosis and treatment" to "auxiliary diagnosis", Tencent Cloud's move will pave the way for its product approval.
From Tencent’s perspective, in recent years, its self-built layout in the medical field has also been intensive. At the just-concluded 2019 Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Conference, Tencent Vice President Ding Ke announced Tencent’s smart medical services that connect doctors and patients based on WeChat electronic health cards. Among them, Tencent’s general practice smart assistant and Tencent Miying appeared frequently.
In May 2019, Tencent officially released its AI medical-assisted diagnosis and treatment open platform and announced the opening of its AI-assisted diagnosis engine of Tencent Miying to further expand its business. It is understood that Tencent Miying has launched products for diabetes screening, lung cancer, breast cancer and other diseases, and is continuing to expand the disease categories. The smart medical service solution built by Tencent Cloud includes these AI-assisted diagnosis. The product covers a large part of the market, and Tencent, which has traffic genes, can help with market expansion.
In addition, some industry insiders speculate whether Tencent will enter the layout of medical devices through e-commerce or agency? Nowadays, artificial intelligence medical treatment has been explored and implemented in China. New technology products such as intelligent monitoring equipment, auxiliary diagnostic equipment, and medical robots are emerging one after another. In the long run, in addition to the development of medical devices, there is also great potential in the circulation of intelligent medical equipment.
Tencent Cloud is not the first company to seize the medical device track in 2019, nor is it the first among Internet giants to invest heavily in the medical business.
On February 11 this year, Baidu, which has been low-key in the medical field for a long time, changed its business scope and added three new contents: "Sales of Class III Medical Devices", "Sales of Class II Medical Devices" and "Software Development" ; On March 21, Huawei changed the company's business scope, added sales of medical devices (Class II medical devices) and other businesses, and officially entered the medical device industry.
What’s more interesting is that three days ago, new retail player Hema Xiansheng also added three new categories of wholesale and retail medical devices to its business scope. Industry insiders analyzed that this may be a prelude to Hema Xiansheng’s future deployment of pharmaceuticals. .
E-commerce giant JD.com also values ??the medical pie. On May 10 this year, JD Group announced that it would establish "JD Health" to integrate its business sectors such as pharmaceutical retail, pharmaceutical wholesale, Internet medical care, and healthy cities, and sounded the clarion call to seize the medical "business" with BAT.
As for Alibaba, which is an e-commerce company, it has already involved medical devices in its business layout. In the field of artificial intelligence medical care, it also used the AI ??system "Doctor You" to "occupy a seat" first.
The implementation of big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence in the medical industry is accelerating, and a large part of the implementation market is inseparable from the medical device segment. Under the general trend of industrial integration, the medical device market is also constantly expanding. Kang Kai, CEO of Rehabilitation Home, once told Yiou Health: "Medical devices will become an independent industry and category in the future, just like household appliances have become an industry today. This is a potential gold mine."
On one side, BATJ is keeping a close eye on this industry that is related to people's livelihood, and on the other side, cross-border players are pouring in one after another. Seeing that the blue sea is turning into a red sea, it is still unclear who can take down the "hardest weapon".
