Formerly known as the Quan Min Normal School, it was founded in 1903 by Chen Baochen, the earliest teacher training school in Fujian Province. It is the earliest teacher training school in Fujian Province, and one of the earliest teacher training schools in the country at that time, known as the "source of the Min teacher" reputation.

In April 1941, the preparation of Fujian Normal College was started, and on June 1, it was authorized to be set up by telegram, and Tang Shouqian was appointed as the principal, and on August 1, it was formally opened. Fujian Normal College in the nature of the school and the task, with the establishment of the Fujian Normal College in 1907, in the history of higher teacher education in Fujian, plays an important role in the precedence of the latter. In January 1979 in the former Sanming District Teachers' Training School on the basis of the approval of the provincial government was established.
