The name of the country: "Britain" in Celtic means "colorful and variegated". "colorful". As some Britons moved to France, the mainland was called Great Britain.

Population: 60.2 million (June 2005),. In the 2006 statistics, the population of the United Kingdom was about 60.6 million, and the total population of the United Kingdom is now about 60.78 million. Administrative divisions: divided into four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. England is divided into 43 counties, 29 districts and 3 special jurisdictions under Scotland, 26 districts under Northern Ireland and 22 districts under Wales. The Scottish and Welsh assemblies and their administrations are fully responsible for local affairs, while foreign affairs, defense, general economic and monetary policy, employment policy and social security remain under the control of the central government.
