Du Xinwu's prototype is Xu Duanshi, the founder of the Nature Sect. Guan Xue's prototype is Wang Xueqin, who was sent by Dr. Sun Yat-sen on a special mission to Beijing. The Legend of Du Xinwu tells the storyline of what happened between meeting and gradually falling in love with An Yulan at the lowest point of his life and eventually marrying him. The drama was created against the backdrop of historical events and drew on a number of historical figures to set and portray its characters.
