USB Type-C is a USB interface form factor standard that has a smaller size than both Type-A and Type-B, and is an interface type that can be used for both PCs (master devices) and external devices (slave devices, such as cell phones).
Type-C also provides two CC cables and two SBU cables. The CC cables are mainly used for communication with the Power Delivery Module (hereafter referred to as PD), and the CC cables are firstly used to determine the direction of insertion of the device: forward or reverse, and if it is positively inserted, the host uses CC1 to communicate with the device.
The CC2 is used for reverse plugging, and it can be seen that the CC uses a single-wire protocol. The SBU line, when the DP function is on, is transformed into the AUX_P/AUX_N differential line in the DP protocol (whose polarity can be modified according to the direction of the forward and reverse plugging), and is responsible for transmitting key information such as the device's DPCD, EDID and other key information.
Type-A is the most widely used interface standard in computers and electronic accessories, and most of the mice, USB flash drives, and data cables have this connector on them, which is also the largest in size.
Type-B is generally used for external USB devices such as printers, scanners, and USBHUBs.
Type-C has a much smaller size than both Type-A and Type-B, and is the newest USB interface form factor, which makes no difference between forward and reverse, and can be plugged in and out at will.
