In the third year of Tang Tianfu (903), the county seat was moved to the present Li Town, and the history of Liyang has been more than 1,100 years.45 million years ago, the Chinese dawn ape appeared in the Jellyfish Mountain of Shanghuang Town (belonging to Yixing before 1950) in the present Liyang City, so that the development of advanced primates, including human beings, had found its source, and its significance could be compared with the discovery of Peking Man in Zhoukoudian. After entering the human era, representing the Paleolithic era beaten stone tools were unearthed in Liyang Shahe, Zhulin, Shanghuang and other places; artifacts such as stone adzes with handles and jade gui represent the level of production and social life of human society in the Neolithic era; the archaeological excavation of Shendun site further enriched and enriched the historical connotation of the Majiabang culture; and the geometrical imprinted ceramics and copper sword clusters show the production level of the Shangzhou and Zhou cultures. During the Zhou Dynasty, the present Liyang land belonged to Wu Setzhu Eup land (including the present Gaochun, Liyang and Lishui south territory), Wu died belonged to Yue, Yue died belonged to Chu. In the 25th year of Qin Shihuang, Liyang County was established by changing Seshu Eup, and the county seat was in Gucheng Town of Gaochun, which belonged to Place County, and present Liyang was the eastern part of (ancient) Liyang County. During the Three Kingdoms period of Wu, the establishment of (ancient) Liyang County was abolished for the purpose of cantonment, and Yongping County was analyzed and set up in the territory of present-day Liyang City, with its seat in the vicinity of Guxian Village in present-day Tianmu Lake Township, belonging to Danyang County, which is the beginning of the establishment of counties in the territory of present-day Liyang City. In the first year of Taikang of Western Jin Dynasty (280), Yongping County was changed to Yongshi County. The remaining parts of the original Liyang County (Gaochun and other places) were restored to set up Liyang County (ruled by Gaochun Gucheng), all belonging to Danyang County (present-day Nanjing South). In the first year of Yongxing, part of Yongshi County was divided to set up Pingling County, which belonged to Yixing County (present-day Yixing City, Jiangsu Province). In the ninth year of Yuanjia of Liu Song (432), Pingling County was merged into Yongshi County and Liyang County (ruled by Gaochun), and both Yongshi and Liyang Counties belonged to Danyang Yin (south of Nanjing today). During the Southern Qi Dynasty, both Liyang and Yongshi counties belonged to Danyang County. Liang and Chen followed suit. In the 9th year of Kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (589), Yongshi County was abolished. In the 12th year of Kaihuang (592), the establishment of Yongshi County was restored and it belonged to Xuanzhou (present Xuancheng). In the 18th year of Kaihuang of Sui Dynasty, Liyang was changed to Lishui County and moved to the site of Niucheng in Gaochun County, to which Yongshi County belonged. So the name of (ancient) Liyang, which governed Gaochun for hundreds of years, was terminated. In the third year of Tang Wude (602), new Liyang County was newly set up in the east of Lishui County, and was located in the old county village 45 miles northwest of Liyang City. That is the beginning of the name of Liyang now. It belongs to Yangzhou (now Nanjing). In the ninth year, Yangzhou was abolished and Liyang belonged to Xuanshou. In the first year of Shangyuan (674), Liyang County belonged to Shengzhou (now Nanjing), and in the second year Shengzhou was abolished and still belonged to Xuancheng (now Xuancheng). In the third year of Guangqi (887), it belonged to Shengzhou again, and in the third year of Tianfu (903), the county seat was moved to the present seat. Since Tang, Liyang and Lishui were separated forever, and the place of Yongshi County was roughly and completely merged into Liyang County. In Yang Wu, Liyang County belonged to Jinling Prefecture. In the Southern Tang Dynasty, Liyang County belonged to Jiangning Prefecture, the capital of which is present-day Nanjing. In the early Song Dynasty, Liyang County still belonged to Jiangning Prefecture. In the eighth year of Kaibao, Jiangning Prefecture was changed to Shengzhou. In the second year of Tianxi (1018), it still belonged to Jiangning Prefecture.
