The hospital has one national clinical key construction specialty, two provincial key specialties of Central Medical Service Center, three municipal clinical key specialties of Wuhan City, two municipal clinical research institutes and the second-level laboratory of Chinese medicine research recognized by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The hospital has invested more in scientific research and participated in 4 special research projects on major infectious diseases in the 11th Five-Year Plan of the State, 3 special projects on major infectious diseases in the 12th Five-Year Plan of the State, and 4 special projects on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in the TCM industry of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with 40 scientific research projects being completed and underway.
