China has become the only major economy with increased trade in goods. What is the reason for this phenomenon?

The main reason is that the domestic epidemic situation is well controlled and the import and export trade is still relatively strong. China's economy didn't come true last year? v? Shape reversal, but in China's export trade industry, it must have been realized, right? v? Formed a rebound, before that, I'm afraid no one would have guessed that China's import and export trade would usher in such a big increase. Not only has it set a new record for ourselves, but for the major economies in the world, China is the only country that has normalized its trade in goods. In 2020, China's total import and export volume reached 32 trillion yuan, of which exports increased by 4%, reaching about 17 trillion yuan, a record high. Last year, ASEAN became China's largest trading partner, and China-related trade increased by 7%, far exceeding other markets.

From the perspective of export product structure, the export of some epidemic prevention products and some digital electronic products has achieved large-scale growth, among which masks and epidemic prevention-related medical consumables have increased by more than 30% year-on-year. In addition, the export of computers and household appliances has also increased by 22%, which is a new high in recent years. According to the data of the General Administration of Customs, China experienced a decline in the first five months of last year, followed by a positive growth in the following months, and the export trade volume has also increased a lot in the world. Experts said that China's foreign trade achieved such good results last year because the government promptly introduced relevant measures to resume work and production, which enabled the factory to start work in time, avoided losses and stabilized the basic situation of China's foreign trade.

The person in charge of the relevant factories also said that after the second half of last year, a large number of orders from Southeast Asian countries were transferred to China, and China's export factories also seized the opportunity to swallow all the transferred orders, which made the import and export industry grow substantially. But in the long run, once the epidemic situation improves, these orders can still return to Southeast Asian countries again. Because of the obvious increase in labor costs in China, some textile mills have turned to Southeast Asian countries. This time they only moved back because of the epidemic. It is hard to say whether the export data can maintain growth in the future.

Relevant experts also said that although the vaccine has started to go on the market, the spread of the epidemic around the world is not optimistic, and external demand is still insufficient. Although all countries have taken relevant stimulus measures, in the long run, it is difficult for demand to grow and the external economic environment to be guaranteed. Moreover, the price of related shipping is also rising recently, and it is hard to say whether the trend of increasing exports can continue.
