Wuhan University People's Hospital (i.e. Hubei Provincial People's Hospital and the First Clinical College of Wuhan University) is located at the intersection of Wuchang Jiefang Road and Zhangzhidong Road (former Ziyang Road) on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, and is looking at the famous Yellow Crane Tower.

The hospital was founded in 1923 as the Hubei Provincial Medical University Internship Hospital, and was incorporated into Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University in October 1926. 1928, when Wuchang Sun Yat-sen University was renamed Wuhan University, the medical department was independently expanded and renamed Hubei Provincial Hospital. 1949, November, Li Xiannian, Chairman of the People's Government of Hubei Province, signed an order to rename the Provincial Hospital, the Hospital Attached to Hubei Medical College, the Provincial Infectious Disease Hospital, the Provincial Tuberculosis Hospital, and the Provincial Tuberculosis Hospital.
