In China, your major leads to your employment direction, and the only direct correspondence is the major research institutes, design institutes, laboratories of major scientific research institutions and R&D centers of top companies. It's not bad to enter these places, but you have to know what kind of competition this is.
So if you don't have confidence in your major and don't open a breakthrough, you can also consider changing your major or changing the direction of the machinery industry.
Finance major:
I'm all for it if you can go. Don't compare our major with finance, there is really no difference. Finance is not speculation. In a healthy financial environment, the technology and connotation of this industry are the same. The financial market is risky, so you have to determine whether you will take the risk and whether it is worth taking. If it is worth it, do it. Don't regret leaving your major. There is nothing to regret. If I had the chance, I wouldn't even look back and leave at once. But entering the financial industry has nothing to do with starting a business, which will help, but it will also help you to engage in other industries, almost the same. Successful entrepreneurship requires too many things, not just technology, not just capital, not just connections, not just luck ... Similarly, not just finance. I have repeated many times, please give up the idea of starting a business, I don't believe you will become the 5% profit. Maybe you will, but I don't believe it. I hope I'm wrong.
Future development:
If your job search in this major is blocked, you will not succeed in transferring to finance. Can return to the basic related fields of mechanical industry. Do you know what the mechanical parts in nearly 60% mechanical/electronic equipment are made of? This is a piece of metal. What are the two major problems in sheet metal processing? Bending and welding. Why is welding so difficult? It is because the crystal structure of materials is different, and it is because there is a problem in the smelting of metal materials. I think you should know what I mean.
Metal plates and other metalworking parts, such as castings and stamping parts, are difficult to weld. In fact, whether it is metal or plastic, welding is a difficult problem, and it has always been. In metal welding, this problem is more prominent. So you won't lose your job. You can find many jobs similar to your major in the processing industry. But I know that the starting point of many jobs is very low, far below your expectations.
Among these basic processing industries, I'm afraid only a few such as automobiles and heavy industries can meet your expectations.
