Car audio modification wiring knowledge
1, car audio wiring selection?
1. The smaller the resistance of the car audio wire, the less power consumed on the wire, the higher the efficiency of the system even if the wire is very thick, due to the speakers themselves will lose a certain amount of power, and will not make the whole system efficiency of 100%.
2. The smaller the resistance of the wire, the greater the damping coefficient; the greater the damping coefficient, the greater the superfluous vibration of the speaker.3. The larger the cross-sectional area of the wire (the thicker it is), the smaller the resistance, the larger the value of the wire's tolerable current, the larger the allowable output power.4. The power supply fuse is selected. The closer the fuse box of the main power line is to the car battery, the better!
2. Wiring the audio signal cable
1. Wrap the audio signal cable joints tightly with insulating tape to ensure insulation, when the joints and the car body come into contact, noise can be generated. 2. Keep the audio signal cable as short as possible. The longer the audio signal cable is, the more likely it is to be disturbed by noise signals. Note: If you can't shorten the length of the audio signal cable, the extra-long part should be folded up, not rolled up.
3. Route the audio signal cable at least 20cm away from the power cables of the car's computer unit and amplifier. if the cables are routed too close together, the audio signal cable will pick up induced noise. It is best to route the audio signal and power cables separately on both sides of the driver's seat and passenger seat.
3, power line wiring
1. The current capacity of the selected power line should be equal to or greater than the value of the fuse connected to the amplifier. If you use a lower-than-standard wire for the power cord, it will produce AC noise and seriously break the sound quality.
2. When powering multiple amplifiers with a single power cable, the length and structure of the wiring from the point of separation to each amplifier should be the same. When the power cord is bridged, there will be a potential difference between the amplifiers, and this potential difference will lead to AC noise, which will seriously damage the sound quality. When the mainframe is powered directly from the power supply, it will reduce noise and improve sound quality.
3. Thoroughly remove any dirt from the power supply (battery) connector and tighten the connector. If the power supply connector is dirty or not tightened, there will be contact resistance at the connector. And the presence of contact resistance can cause AC noise, which can seriously damage the sound quality. Use sandpaper and a fine thwart to remove dirt from the connector.
4. When wiring within the vehicle's powertrain, avoid routing wires near the generator and ignition, generator noise and ignition noise can radiate into the power line. When replacing factory-installed spark plugs and spark plug cables with high-performance types, the ignition spark is stronger, which will be more prone to ignition noise.
5. The same principle applies to power cables as to audio cables in the car body.
4, grounding method
1. Use sandpaper to remove the paint at the grounding point of the car body, and fix the grounding wire tightly. If paint remains between the body and the grounding terminal it will cause contact resistance at the grounding point. Similar to the dirty-colored power connector described above, contact resistance can cause AC noise to be generated, which can seriously damage sound quality.
2. Ground each module in the audio system in one place. If you don't ground them in a centralized location, the potential difference between the audio components can lead to noise generation. Note: The host and amplifier should be grounded separately.
3. When the system consumes a lot of current, the battery ground terminal must be firm. A way to improve the power grounding performance is to wire a thick diameter wire, such as stranded wire, between the power supply and the ground. This strengthens the connection, effectively suppresses noise and improves sound quality.
4. Don't wire close to the trip computer. Remember that host computer noise is generated when the host computer's ground point is close to the traveling computer's ground point or fixed point.
