Three basic forms of grounding

The three basic forms of grounding are protective grounding, functional grounding and signal grounding.

1. protective grounding: protective grounding is an important measure to ensure the normal operation of grounding system and protect personal safety. The methods of grounding protection include regular inspection of grounding system, prevention of grounding line damage, prevention of grounding system damage, lightning protection and good grounding design. Protective grounding needs regular inspection to prevent damage, prevent damage and reasonable grounding design to ensure the normal operation and personal safety of grounding system.

2. Functional grounding: Functional grounding refers to a measure to connect the metal parts of electrical equipment with large metal structures on the ground or underground to realize the safe operation of electrical equipment and protect personal safety. Firstly, the design specifications are determined, and according to relevant standards and specifications, the design parameters of grounding system are determined, such as grounding resistance requirements and cross-sectional area of grounding wire. Then ensure that the geological conditions in the construction area meet the grounding requirements, prepare the required tools and materials, and finally install the grounding wire and select the appropriate grounding wire material.

3. Signal grounding: Ensuring signal grounding refers to guiding signals to the ground in electronic equipment or communication system to ensure the stable transmission of signals and the safe operation of equipment. In terms of signal grounding, we need to pay attention to these problems: determining design specifications, installing grounding wires, maintaining the independence of grounding wires, and checking and maintaining them regularly.

Matters needing attention in setting grounding wire

1. design specification: according to the power and use environment of electrical equipment, determine the design specification of grounding wire, including cross-sectional area, material and length. Ensure that the specifications of grounding wire meet the national standards and electrical safety requirements.

2. Preparatory work: Before installing the grounding wire, some preparatory work must be done. First of all, clean up the debris and dirt around the grounding point to ensure the smooth surface of the grounding point.

3. Installation of grounding wire: connect one end of the grounding wire to the grounding terminal of the equipment, and the other end to the grounding rod or grounding net in the grounding system. When connecting, ensure that the grounding wire is firmly connected with the equipment and grounding rod.
