What certification is required for exporting products to Nigeria

Nigeria needs SONCAP certification

According to the notice issued by the Nigerian Bureau of Standards SON on June 5, 2009, the scope of SONCAP regulation has been expanded.

Except for some exempted products, products controlled by the Nigerian Food and Drug Administration and prohibited products, the rest of the products imported into Nigeria need to apply for a SONCAP certificate: the control of products categorized as follows:

1, toys, stationery, fitness equipment

2, electrical and electronic products

3, automotive products

4, Chemical products, construction materials

5, Machinery and equipment, hardware and tools

6, Paper products and hygiene products

7, Textiles, leather, plastic and rubber products

8, Furniture

9, Security products and so on

Besides the products listed below, all other products exported to Nigeria basically need SONCAP certification. Basically, all products exported to Nigeria need SONCAP certification.

* Foodstuffs

* Pharmaceuticals

* Medical supplies other than medical devices

* Chemical raw materials

* Military equipment and instruments

* Aeronautical products

* Machinery for industrial manufacturing

* Used products other than motorized vehicles

* Bicycles, motorcycles, full bulk parts of automobiles (Nigeria), Fully bulked parts of automobiles (legalized domestic manufacturers or assemblers in Nigeria with MANCAP certificate)
