dido E40s Pro smartwatch: air pump blood pressure measurement, middle-aged and elderly health companion

When it comes to smart wearable devices, they have gradually been accepted by more users in the past few years, and even different styles of smartwatches and bracelets have appeared on the wrists of people of our parents' and grandparents' generation. Our generation relies more on the information push and sports statistics function of smartwatches, while the previous generation uses smartwatches mainly to measure heart rate, oxygen saturation and blood pressure, just like a health partner who accompanies them at all times.

National brand dido has long observed the needs of such user groups, and has launched several smartwatches designed for older users, which are closer to the needs of older people in terms of functional design, and a number of products have also been certified as Class II medical devices. Recently had the honor to receive a dido E40s Pro air pump pressurized blood pressure monitoring watch through the Golden Review, give it to your mother also just to make up for the previous Mother's Day gift.

The packaging is a classic box with a black background and the word "dido" printed in gold on the top of the lid.

The sticker at the bottom of the box lists the watch's technical parameters and manufacturer information.

Opening the package, the watch is displayed on the left side, supported by a foam mold, while other accessories are stored in a separate accessory box on the right side.

Sharing a set of family photos, it contains the dido E40s Pro smart blood pressure watch, inflatable blood pressure wristband, magnetic charging cable, two pairs of replacement inflatable zone rubber stoppers, and paper documents such as instruction manuals and blood pressure test method cards.

From the appearance alone, this watch is very much in line with the temperament of middle-aged and elderly users, with a round dial design, more in line with people's impression of the traditional watch, so that the previous generation can be more easily accepted. The dial shell is made of metal, and the surface is complemented by a black frosted texture, visually giving people a low-key introverted impression. No matter what style of clothes you convey, or attend different scenes, wearing the dido E40s Pro will not be out of place.

The front of the dial is inlaid with a 1.3-inch round IPS screen with a resolution of 240 240 pixels, displaying a fine degree of detail. The screen is surrounded by a traditional watch-like scale logo, which serves a decorative purpose. The screen is designed to be tilted towards the side of the dial to reduce the sense of cut-off.

There are two physical buttons on the right side of the dial, the upper one is used for switching on and off and returning to the previous menu, while the lower one is a shortcut for the blood pressure test function. The two buttons default to press operation, and while they can be rotated like a crown, they have no substantive function.

The back of the dial is covered with a full metal cover, with a raised circular area in the center inlaid with a temperature sensor, a heart rate photoelectric sensor, and against the right side are two metal charging contacts. Remove the dustproof rubber plug underneath, the thin tube on the far right is used to inflate the blood pressure wristband, and the two thin tubes on the left are used to secure the wristband.

The default strap is made of silicone, which is thin and soft overall, and with the wider band, it fits well. The outer side of the strap is designed with a slightly rough frosted texture, which is more wear-resistant for daily wear; while the inner side is a delicate skin-friendly texture, which has a better anti-slip and anti-sweat effect.

The strap is connected to the dial with a quick release design, and the strap can be removed by flicking the small buckle to one side, making it easier to clean the strap after a period of wear. We hope that Dido will release a variety of straps for users to choose from, such as the mainstream cloth, leather and so on.

dido E40s Pro dial area is relatively large, the measured width of about 4.5cm, parents at home are thin, thin wrists, wearing the watch will appear to be particularly prominent. However, for the middle-aged and elderly, the small size of the dial in turn seems petty, slowly get used to it. Thankfully there are more grommets on the strap to accommodate different thicknesses of wrists.

As a smartwatch, although some of its functions can be used independently, I still strongly recommend pairing it with a cell phone APP, which not only allows it to perform all its functions, but also allows some important health information to be sent to your children's cell phones remotely through the APP, so that we can keep track of our parents' health while they are working in other cities.

The companion APP is called SmartHealth, and currently covers two major platforms, iOS and Android. After downloading and installing the APP, registering and logging in to your account, clicking on the watch icon in the upper right corner of the home page to enter the search interface, the watch will release the Bluetooth hotspot under the power-on state, and clicking on the name of the corresponding watch after discovering it will complete the pairing. After pairing, it will synchronize the time and language information to the watch.

The watch dial supports touch control, coupled with two physical buttons on the right side, the interaction logic is relatively clear. The screen displays the dial interface, and from the top downward swipe to call out the shortcut menu, displaying the time, power and shortcut function entrance, which is somewhat similar to the cell phone operating system.

Swipe left or right on the dial to enter the function interface in turn, and swipe left to enter the sport information, blood pressure measurement, temperature test, heart rate test, oxygen saturation test, respiration rate test, sports mode options and weather, and swipe right to enter the weather in the opposite order.

Swipe up from the bottom of the dial or tap the top right button to bring up the menu screen, where all of the functions are listed, with three icons per page, and continue swiping up and down to flip through the pages.

In addition, the system's preset dial is a black style close to that of a traditional sports watch, but in order to meet the user's personalized needs, you can also change other dial styles in the "Theme" option in the app, which currently offers eight styles. We also hope that Dido will open up a dial design platform to allow players to freely design and upload dials, which will enrich the dial library and reduce the pressure on official designers.

To make it easier to view information on a regular basis, the watch is equipped with the Wrist Lift function by default, which automatically lights up the screen when the built-in motion sensor monitors the action of lifting the wrist. After actual testing, the accuracy and responsiveness of motion recognition is pretty good.

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, the parents' generation is using smartwatches to emphasize on health-related functions, which is also the original intention of the Dido E40s Pro design. Through a precise sensor, the realization of the wrist can monitor a variety of physical health data, without leaving the house can be a general understanding of their own physical condition, for the older generation is very important, but also let us do the children's out of the time to run a lot of peace of mind.

First of all, let's talk about the air-pump blood pressure monitoring that is the main feature of the Dido E40s Pro. In fact, this watch offers two types of blood pressure monitoring, one is rapid measurement and the other is precise measurement, which is accessed through the button at the bottom of the right side of the body.

Quick measurement is faster and easier to use, you just need to wear the watch on your wrist to start the test, about 15 seconds to give the initial test data, and then it will continue to monitor the data, and correct the data until the user actively exit the blood pressure test interface. But the quicker measurements are less accurate than the more precise ones.

Accurate measurements require the included airbag pressurized strap, which can be fixed by removing the rubber stopper on the back of the watch and inserting the raised holes in the strap into the inflation and positioning holes on the back of the watch. The airbag strap is somewhat similar to the ruler used when you were a child, and can be paired with the strap to bend smoothly and fit securely to your wrist.

Lift your wrist to the level of your heart and turn on the Precision Measurement Mode, and the airbag on the strap will automatically inflate and pressurize to fit your arm more tightly, which is the same principle of traditional blood pressure monitors. After the measurement is finished, the dial screen will give the test result, and then the strap will be deflated automatically. After the test, we found that there are some discrepancies between the data from the quick and precise measurements, but when compared with the data from the professional sphygmomanometer, the data from the precise mode test is closer.

The next step is heart rate detection, a feature that comes standard on most smartwatches. dido E40s Pro is equipped with an OSRAM2730 optoelectronic chip, which, through an innovative optical circuit structural design and AI smart heart rate algorithms, can realize all-weather heart rate detection and over-heightened heart rate warnings, and real-time assessment of the wearer's heart state.

If you need to manually test your heart rate, wear the watch normally and enter the heart rate test interface, which will give you the test data in just a few moments. Compared with the test data of Xiaomi Bracelet 3, the two data are basically the same.

The new coronavirus affects human blood oxygen saturation, so in recent years oxygen saturation testing has become a must-have feature of smartwatches. dido E40s Pro uses the pulse wave time difference method for oxygen testing, which also allows for 24-hour, all-weather testing as well as heart rate. If you need to do this manually, just wear the watch normally and enter the Oxygen test interface, keep your wrist still for a few moments to give the test results.

In addition to this, the dido E40s Pro also features an innovative temperature and respiration rate test. To put it simply, the temperature monitoring is to obtain the temperature of the arm surface through the temperature sensing pole piece on the back of the watch, and the accuracy of the test is generally higher after wearing it for 10 minutes. Each measurement is displayed as a line graph, which provides a more intuitive view of the body's temperature over time.

Respiration rate data is the number of breaths taken by the human body per minute, with a single rise and fall of the chest representing a single breath. Wear the watch normally, enter the respiration rate test interface, keep breathing normally, and the test data will be given in about 1 minute.

While sleeping at night, the dido E40s Pro also monitors the user's sleep state in a silent state, including sleep quality and sleep breathing quality, and gives a complete sleep quality report the next morning to help users with sleep disorders understand the problem, so as to better improve their sleep. This feature is not only useful for the parents' generation, even I just need it.

On top of the health features mentioned above, the dido E40s Pro also supports a wealth of sports features, namely sports statistics. The watch supports running, cycling, fitness, badminton, ping pong, basketball and rope skipping in seven sport modes, which are mostly common sports for some older people, and are still useful for my parents when they go out for a morning or evening workout.

As mentioned earlier in this article, the dido E40s Pro watch needs to be paired with the SmartHealth App for a more complete experience. the app's interface design is relatively simple, with a crisp green and white color scheme that matches the theme of health and exercise. the top of the page is a collection of information, and the top of the page is an overview of all the information available on the watch. The home page is mainly for information aggregation, and the top of the page displays the number of steps taken during the day in the form of a circle, with calorie consumption data, kilometers and exercise time. The lower part displays blood pressure, heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, respiration rate and body temperature data in a modularized form, which makes it easy for users to visualize their body condition.

The top tab of the Sports interface contains seven preset sports modes. After selecting any of the modes, the top of the page displays the weather information of the current city, which helps users determine whether it is suitable for outdoor sports. After selecting any mode, click the "Start" button to enter the stats, and the new interface marks the user's current location with a map, and displays various sports data at the bottom.

The care function is the health information sharing mentioned at the beginning of this article. Add your child's account as a friend or relative in your parent's mobile app, and then log in to your friend or relative's account on your child's cell phone to learn about your parent's health and exercise information.

The final settings option includes some personalized settings for the watch. Clicking on the name of the watch to enter the secondary menu provides a wealth of settings options, so I won't go into detail here, and those who are interested can learn more about them on their own.

The watch itself also supports notification reminders, such as a sedentary reminder that can be set for a certain period of time (usually an hour or so), and will vibrate when the time is up to inform the user that they need to get up and walk around. In addition, you can also choose to turn on the body temperature warning, heart rate warning, etc., to prevent problems before they occur. For office workers, the watch can also turn on the notification reminders of the third-party APP of the cell phone, such as WeChat, QQ, etc., to avoid missing important information.

The battery life of the smartwatch is also a concern for many users, after all, like Apple Watch a day a charge who can not stand. dido E40s Pro smartwatch is equipped with a 200mAh lithium-ion battery, combined with the actual experience of the state of the full power about to maintain about 7 days of battery life, the use of moderate less than a week do not need to charge.

Charging, dido E40s Pro watch adopts a magnetic charging interface, compared with Micro USB or Type C plug interface, the body is more integrated, the use of the operation is more convenient, just need to charger metal contacts and the back of the body contacts close to the automatic adsorption. However, there is no concave treatment on the back of the body contacts, which makes the charging cable plug end not so easy to find the right position, and it is recommended to improve it.

The mother of the family to experience a week or so, the evaluation of this watch is not bad, can be convenient to detect blood pressure, blood oxygen, heart rate, respiratory rate and sleep status, so that the old man himself and far away from the city to work in the city I am able to keep abreast of the elders of the physical condition. Especially in terms of blood pressure measurement, by matching with the airbag pressurized strap, it realizes the same measurement as the professional sphygmomanometer, and the resulting data is more accurate and informative. Meanwhile, the dido E40s Pro also supports seven exercise modes to obtain exercise data and heart rate in the corresponding exercise state.

As far as the design of the watch is concerned, the black metal dial is low-key and introverted, and the round dial is more in line with people's impression of traditional watches, which can be well matched with different styles of clothing. Overall, dido E40s Pro is more inclined to middle-aged and old-aged users in terms of functional design, prioritizing health management and sports management to the highest level, which is very suitable for parents' generation.
