In January 1975, he was appointed Vice Premier of the State Council. Serious mistakes were made during the "Cultural Revolution". In March 1978, he was dismissed from his post and returned to work at Tianjin Machinery Factory. He later served as deputy director of the factory's Technical Transformation Office. In July 1987, he was appointed as the section chief of Tianjin Imported Equipment Inspection Division. In May 1990, he served as chief economist and manager of the mechanical and electrical department of the North China Company of China National Machinery Industry Supply and Marketing Corporation. He is an alternate member of the 10th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Died of illness in Tianjin in November 1997.
