The department*** has 65 beds, and the actual number of beds is more than 90. At present, it has formed a complete structure, excellent facilities, advanced diagnosis and treatment technology, comprehensive development of medical education and research, and unity and cooperation of the discipline, which consists of specialized wards, CCU units, non-invasive diagnostic centers, interventional diagnostic and treatment centers, and laboratories. It has a technical team with reasonable knowledge and age structure, as well as disciplinary and academic leaders who are proficient in their own specialties and have a strong commitment to their careers. It undertakes the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular patients in and out of the province as well as the consultation and rescue of difficult and critical cases, and is at the advanced level of the domestic and the provincial level in the rescue and treatment of critical illnesses in the cardiovascular system, cardiovascular interventional diagnosis and treatment and non-invasive cardiovascular examination.
There are 10 professors and 9 associate professors in the department, including 6 doctoral supervisors and 4 master's supervisors. The proportion of PhDs in the main series accounts for 54.5%. 5 members are serving as members and/or directors and vice-chairmen in the National Committee of Cardiovascular Disease or Guangdong Medical Association, and 14 members are serving as editorial board members of dozens of medical core journals in China. The department has extensive academic exchanges with domestic and foreign countries, and has employed 4 professors from the United States and Japan as visiting professors of the department. Ten clinical cadres have gone to the U.S. and Japan to study for 1-4 years and returned home after their studies. The department has close contact with many foreign universities (e.g. Colorado University, Virginia University, and Kanazawa University) and has established a good academic exchange platform, **** with the training of doctoral students, so that the level of diagnosis and treatment, research direction, and scientific research methodology of the department can be kept in step with the international leading level.
The department, as the first completion unit, has obtained the certificate of National New Drug of Biological Product Class I (containing fluorocarbon gas microbubble contrast agent), the certificate of National New Drug of Biological Product Class II (containing air microbubble contrast agent), and one each of Excellent National Invention Patent Award. 2 First Prizes of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 Second Prizes of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 4 Second Prizes of Army Science and Technology Progress Award, and 2 Second Prizes of Army Medical Achievement Award. He has been awarded 36 funds as the first author***, including one each of the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program) and the sub-projects of the National 973 Key Project, and 11 upper-level projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a total of 9,070,000 yuan of scientific research funds. In the past four years, 268 papers have been published in full in domestic statistical source journals*** as the first author, including 18 SCI-indexed papers. The number of awards, funds and papers obtained by the whole discipline is in the leading position in the Pearl River Delta region.
The department is equipped with advanced equipment and complete examination programs to meet the needs of interventional and non-invasive examinations in cardiology. There are advanced double C-arm digital subtraction X-ray, PET-CT, MRI, dual source spiral CT, color multispectral echocardiography, exercise load system, dynamic electrocardiography and blood pressure analysis system, intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation, percutaneous cardiopulmonary support system, coronary vascular ultrasonography, arteriosclerosis detector, Carto 3D electrophysiology marker system, 64-channel physiological recorder, radiofrequency ablation system, and other advanced equipment. The company will continue to purchase advanced equipment for cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment this year, such as a high-grade equipment such as a channel physiological recorder, radiofrequency ablation instrument and a pacing analyzer.
