History

Dongfeng Town--located in the east of Jian'ou City, west of Vulture Peak Mountain Range, with a total area of 268.9 square kilometers, now has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages, 2 neighborhood committees, 1 good seed farm, 1 town forest, 19 administrative villages, 81 natural villages, ****10947 households, with a total population of 41103 people, of which the agricultural population of 38,098 and non-agricultural population of 3005, and it is one of the largest and most populous towns of northern Fujian. The largest area, one of the most populous town.

Dialect
Jianou has the Jianou dialect, which people call Jianou dialect, and there was once a special book on Jianou dialect, "The Eight Sounds of Jianzhou".

On February 20, 2021, the list of provincial civilized cities in Fujian Province for 2018-2020 was released, and Jian'ou was on the list.
In March 2019, Jian'ou City was included in the list of the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area districts and counties (the former Central Soviet Area Area Area, Fujian, Zhejiang and Gan Area).
On February 21, 2017, Jian'ou City was on the list of 2016 National Basic Balanced Counties (Cities and Districts) for Compulsory Education Development.
