Huayan Temple Huayan Temple is located in Xi'an City, South Chang'an County, Duqu Township, east of the city on the banks of the South Shaoling Plains, about 15 kilometers from Xi'an City. It is one of the famous eight temples of Fanchuan in Tang Dynasty. It is the birthplace of the Huayan Sect of Chinese Buddhism.
The temple was built in the 19th year of Zhengyuan of Emperor Dezong of the Tang Dynasty (803 AD). The monk Du Shun founded the Huayan Sect here, and his third disciple was favored by Wu Zetian and was called the "Master of the Huayan Sect". The fourth disciple, Cheng Guan, was honored as a professorial monk and awarded the titles of "Zhen Guo Master" and "Sang Zu Qing Liang Guo Shi", and presided over Buddhist ceremonies throughout the country at that time. Therefore, Huayan Temple was a famous temple with quite a high status in the Tang Dynasty. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, a part of Shaolingyuan collapsed, and all the temples in the temple were destroyed, with only two brick pagodas remaining. East for the Huayan Sect of the first ancestor Du Shun Zen Master Tower, four sides of the 7-story, about 13 meters high. The west side of the Huayan Sect, the fourth ancestor of the Qingliang Master Tower, six-sided 5 layers, 7 meters high. In front of the tower, there is also the late Qing Dynasty "Huayan four Zen Qingliang Pagoda," the monument. Tang Xuanzong Dazhong six years (852 AD) engraved the "Du Shun Zen master monument," the monument, has been moved to Xi'an Monument Forest preservation.
The Huayan Temple is located high above the ground, and is a good place to climb up and look around. Standing in front of the Huayan Pagoda, you can look down on Fanchuan, far away from the clouds of Zhongnan Mountain. It is a tourist attraction.
