The establishment of the Eastern Theater is one of the important changes. It inherited the task of the Nanjing Military Region and set up a command organization in Nanjing. This adjustment reflects the geostrategic position and military needs of the southeast region.
The characteristics of the five major war zones:
1. The predecessor of the Eastern Theater was the Nanjing Military Region. At present, it has jurisdiction over six provinces and cities including Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Jiangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang, and the headquarters of the theater is located in Nanjing. The eastern war zone is an important force to defend China's coastal economy, and it is also responsible for the great cause of the motherland's reunification.
Army armored forces in the eastern theater are mainly tanks 99A and 96B, equipped with a large number of long-range rockets. As for the air force, there is a famous "Wanghai Brigade" in the eastern theater, which is a J-16D fighter with a luxurious configuration.
2. The number of people in the southern theater is similar to that in the eastern theater, and the army is not as strong as that in the eastern theater. The army in the southern theater is mostly a light synthetic brigade with little equipment, and the rice fields in the southern water network are densely covered, which is not conducive to marching with heavy equipment.
The combat effectiveness of the southern theater is mainly reflected in the navy. China's South China Sea Fleet is the largest fleet in Asia, and its tonnage has surpassed that of South Korea and Japan. The South China Sea has a vast area and the depth of seawater is suitable for large ships and submarines to sail. The South China Sea Fleet has the Shandong aircraft carrier independently built by China, and the Fujian, which is undergoing sea trials, may also serve in the South China Sea Fleet in the future.
3. The western theater has the widest jurisdiction and the strongest armored force among the five theaters. There is nothing we can do about it. There is no sea in the west, and all the military expenses in this theater are spent on the army and air force. There are two group armies in the western theater, plus the troops of Xinjiang and Tibet Military Region, ranking first in number, with a total force of 600,000, accounting for 50% of the PLA Army troops.
The Central Theater governs Beijing, Hebei, Tianjin, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Hubei, and is the main military force to defend the capital. The troops in this war zone are all elites and trump cards. The famous 54th Army and the 38th "Long Live Army" were both incorporated into the 82nd Army. 5. The northern theater governs Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia and Shandong. Two group armies with a total population of 6.5438+0.8 million. The configuration of the army in the northern theater is similar to that in the western theater, and the northern plain can be used for heavy armored troops to gallop. The mission of the northern theater is different from that of the eastern theater and the southern theater. Their main task is to defend and prevent Japan and South Korea from attacking our country, so this theater has the least troops among the five major theaters.
