Plug the serial peripheral into the COM port of the computer.
Computers without COM interface need to be configured with USB to RS232 cable. Computer installation USB to RS232 line driver.
Device Manager-Install the serial peripheral drivers used.
Serial interface is called serial port for short, also called serial communication interface or serial communication interface (usually referred to as COM interface), which is an extended interface adopting serial communication mode. Serial interface refers to the sequential transmission of data bit by bit, which is characterized by simple communication lines. As long as a pair of transmission lines (telephone lines can be directly used as transmission lines), two-way communication can be realized, which greatly reduces the cost and is especially suitable for long-distance communication, but the transmission speed is slow.
RS232 is one of the communication interfaces on personal computers, and it is an asynchronous transmission standard interface formulated by Electronic Industry Association (EIA). Motherboards used to provide one or two RS232 interfaces, called COM 1 or COM2.
The serial peripherals that the computer can connect are:
Hospital medical equipment control, such as hospital gastroscope, CT, chest X-ray instrument, etc.
Supermarket charging related equipment, such as small ticket printer, card reader, bar code grabber, etc.
Engineering production design control, such as PLC programmer.
Computer extended peripherals, such as printer, serial mouse, serial keyboard, etc.
Computers can communicate with peripherals through serial ports through application programs, control peripherals, and obtain information provided by peripherals.
