How to treat varicose veins of the lower limbs when you have them?

There are four types of treatments for varicose veins of the lower limbs, including: compression therapy, varicose vein sclerotherapy, and surgery in three main categories.

Compression therapy: Using medical compression stockings, medical compression stockings build up the highest support pressure at the ankle and gradually reduce it up the leg. In the calf belly to the maximum pressure value of 70% -90%, in the thigh to the maximum pressure value of 25% -45%. This decreasing change in pressure allows venous blood to return to the lower extremities, effectively relieving or improving the pressure on the veins and venous valves of the lower extremities. Compression stockings are best worn early in the morning when you have not yet gotten up, and kept on until you go to bed at night and then taken off.

Sclerotherapy: A hypertonic solution (such as highly concentrated saline or sclerosing agent) is injected into the varicose vein, destroying the lining of the blood vessel and causing it to seal and disappear. However, it can only treat small varicose veins, and there may be severe pain, pigmentation, even inflammation, redness, swelling, ulceration and other sequelae during the treatment, and it is easy to recur and difficult to deal with after recurrence, so it is only suitable for a small number of patients.

Surgical extraction surgery: incision is made in the groin, the saphenous vein is ligated at a high level, and the superficial varicose veins are stripped off pointwise. Half or general anesthesia is required and hospitalization is done.
