Dongguan Central Blood Station was established in September 1994, is located in the historic and world-famous Humen Town, is directly under the leadership of the Municipal Health Bureau of the city's only public health institutions engaged in blood collection and supply work. It is responsible for the recruitment of non-remunerated blood donation in Dongguan, blood collection and preparation, protection of clinical blood and business guidance on medical blood use. There are 119 staff members, 78% of whom are health professionals and technicians, including 2 PhDs, 1 doctoral candidate, 4 masters and 13 senior technical title holders. There are three functional departments, namely Office, Business Unit and Finance Unit, and a number of operational sections such as Blood Donation Service Section, and three fixed blood donation stations have been set up in Dongcheng, Tangxia and Humen respectively. The station has 149 sets of equipments over RMB 100,000, including 5 imported deluxe blood collection vehicles, imported automatic blood collection system, enzyme immunoassay system, irradiator and other modern and advanced equipments, with a total value of fixed assets of over RMB 57 million. Since 1997, the annual volume of blood collected and supplied by the central blood station has exceeded 10 tons (10 million ml), and now the average monthly volume of blood collected and supplied has reached about 2.0 tons, ranking the second place in Guangdong Province; it can provide more than ten varieties of component blood, such as whole blood, red blood cells, platelets, etc., to all medical units in the city. in March 1999, the station has completed the transition from the mode of paid blood donation to the mode of planned unpaid blood donation; In February 2001, the city completely canceled the planned allocation of blood collection targets, and directly transitioned to the voluntary gratuitous donation mode of blood. from the beginning of 2001 to the end of 2009, more than 470,000 people in the city*** participated in voluntary gratuitous blood donation, and the total amount of donated blood reached 17,000,000 ml, of which more than 75% of donors donated 400 ml at a time, so that the quality of blood and the safety of transfusion from the source have been more strongly The quality of blood and the safety of blood transfusion have been more strongly guaranteed from the source, and the city's demand for clinical blood has been fully met. The quality of clinical blood has been steadily improved, and it has gained excellent results in the inter-room quality control evaluation of the National Blood Quality Management Committee, the Provisional Inspection Center of the Ministry of Health and the Provincial Provisional Inspection Center in the past years. At the same time, component blood transfusion has been popularized since 2001, and the rate of component blood transfusion in the city has reached 99.8%, forming a good atmosphere of scientific and rational use of blood.
