Hello everyone, last time we did the feature library of the spring groove, but we have a problem that has not been solved, that is, different shaft diameter, corresponding to the different dimensions of spring groove, so that every time we need to look up the table to enter the depth of the groove and the size of the slot according to the different shaft diameter, so that we need to look up the table. So we have to check the table every time to input the slot depth and slot width according to different shaft diameters; today we will solve this tedious input and search process. Today, we will take the commonly used part feature of mechanical design - keyway on the shaft as an example to demonstrate it for you.
Design criteria for dimensional references:

This feature library is built using the functions of design table (keyway size table), configuration (configuration of different shaft diameters corresponding to the keyway size), equations (enter the shaft diameter, immediately corresponding to the keyway size) and design library.
Step 1: Create a design table
To edit the design table, this step is performed in Excel. After entering the data, save the table as "Shaft Diameter Keyway Dimension Table.xlsx" to your desktop.
Step 2: Create an Optical Shaft with Keyway
Open SolidWorks to create an optical shaft with a keyway and customize the shaft parameters.
Right-click in the model tree and check "Show Feature Dimensions".
Step 3: Show Dimension Name

Step 4: Insert a design table

Step 5: Create a library features folder in the design library
A new folder is created in the SolidWorks "Design Library" folder to store the library features to be created this time, and this folder is placed in the "features features" - "features" - "features" folder. Place this folder in the next level of "features" - "metric". Then, click "Add to Library".
Select the features you want to create a feature library for, and then click the "Add to Library" button in the design library, enter the file name, check if the file type is correct (here it should be saved in *.sldlfp format), and if it is correct, click the check mark to confirm this operation. Or add it by dragging and dropping
Turn off the part drawing and drag and drop it out of the library features, and modify the library features (.sldlfp format)
Drag and drop the keyway's "Defining Dimensions" (which are the two dimensions from our design table) into the "Internal Dimensions" button (which are the dimensions from our design table). Internal Dimensions" (excluding the keyway length), and drag the remaining "Positioning Dimensions" into the "Find Dimensions" by dragging and dropping with the mouse. You can see the "L" mark on the two feature symbols, indicating that this is a "library features", and then save the file.
Step 6: Verify that the library feature we created can be used
In SolidWorks, create a new part, such as drawing a diameter of 20mm, the length of 50mm optical axis.

Modify the length and width of the keyway dimensions, and then determine the production is complete
