Radiation-carrying fallout would have been dispersed on the wind, further expanding the scope of nuclear contamination, and groundwater could have been contaminated and flowed into the sea, polluting the ecosystem.
That year, reactor 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine, still under Soviet rule, exploded. As the fire grew, it was accompanied by a massive leak of radioactive material. The radioactive material then entered the atmosphere and soon covered a large area. This nuclear leak seriously affected the lives of the people around it, and in the 15 years since the accident, more than 60,000 people have lost their lives. More than 100,000 people are still suffering from nuclear radiation and large numbers of people have moved away from their home towns.
The leak at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is by far the largest nuclear leak in human history, and the damage caused by this accident is incalculable. After experts analyzed the cause of the accident, mainly because of the irrational design of the building structure, several reactors as well as the building, because the structure is not reasonable, and buried the accident potential.
After this, the Soviet government did not pay much attention to the accident, and even many professionals took a chance on the leak. This delayed the rescue operation, and the surrounding residents were not evacuated in time, resulting in many of the surrounding residents being exposed to severe nuclear radiation. Until Sweden officially, issued an announcement that the nuclear radiation had drifted to Sweden, the Soviet Union began to pay attention to it, and spent a lot of manpower and resources to blockade and deal with it.
If the Soviet government at the time had been paying little attention to the nuclear leak at Chernobyl. Then the nuclear contamination would soon contaminate the groundwater, and with it, the ocean, polluting its ecosystem. In addition to this, the dust carrying the radiation would have drifted with the wind, further expanding the scope of nuclear contamination, and the people and animals shrouded under the radiation would have been affected by the radiation to varying degrees.
We often see on TV that animals become deformed or even mutate under nuclear radiation. And if a person eats meat from such an animal, it will have a serious effect on his health. So many countries have imposed import restrictions on Ukrainian food after the nuclear leakage in Chernobyl, which has further affected Ukraine's economy.
Nature is an ecosystem, however, and while many countries can take the necessary measures after a nuclear leak. But as the food chain continues to advance, it will eventually affect us humans.
