Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIAT) is a multidisciplinary full-time university of Shanghai with distinctive characteristics, which is oriented to applied and technical scientific research, and focuses on engineering and coordinated development of multiple disciplines.
Shanghai Institute of Technology was founded in April 2000 through the merger of Shanghai Higher Institute of Light Industry, Shanghai Higher Institute of Metallurgy, Shanghai Higher Institute of Chemical Technology and Shanghai Spice Research Institute of the former Ministry of Light Industry, and in 2004 it was authorized to confer bachelor's degree, in 2007 it was authorized to enroll international students, and in 2008 it became a master's degree-granting institution.
As of November 2014, the school has two campuses, Fengxian Campus and Xuhui Campus, covering an area of ***1013,995 square meters, with a building area of 585,939 square meters.
