Article 36 of the Rules for the Transportation of Passenger Baggage of Civil Aviation of China The baggage transported by the carrier is limited to articles within the scope of the definition of item 23 of Article 3 of these rules. The baggage carried by the carrier is divided into checked baggage, self-cared baggage and carry-on articles in accordance with the transportation responsibility. Important documents and information, diplomatic pouch, securities, currency, bills of exchange, valuables, fragile and perishable articles, and other articles requiring special care shall not be carried in the baggage.
The carrier shall be liable for the loss or damage of the above articles in the checked baggage according to the general checked baggage. Prohibited articles, restricted articles, dangerous articles, and other articles with bad smell or easily deface the aircraft as stipulated by the state can not be transported as baggage or clipped into the baggage.
The carrier may refuse to accept or terminate the transportation at any time if, before accepting the baggage or in the course of transportation, the carrier finds that the baggage contains any articles that cannot be transported as baggage or clipped into the baggage. Passengers are not allowed to carry control knives on board. Sharp or blunt objects other than control knives should be checked in with the checked baggage and cannot be carried on.

Each First Class and Business Class passenger is allowed to bring two carry-on items, and the weight of each item shall not exceed 8 kg (17 lbs); each Economy Class passenger is allowed to bring one carry-on item, and the weight of each item shall not exceed 5 kg (11 lbs).
Each carry-on item must not exceed 55 centimeters (22 inches) in length, 40 centimeters (16 inches) in width and 20 centimeters (8 inches) in height on three sides, and it is guaranteed to fit in the enclosed baggage racks above the cabin of the aircraft or under the seat in front of you. If it cannot be placed in the above manner, or due to overweight oversize, or for security reasons, it should be transported as checked baggage.
