Shanghai Shuguang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a century-old hospital in Shanghai, a Grade 3A comprehensive Chinese medicine hospital, one of the top ten comprehensive hospitals in Shanghai, and a model Chinese medicine hospital in China. In 1999, it was awarded the title of "National Top 100 Hospitals" by the Ministry of Health; in 2004, it was awarded the honor of "Advanced Collective of the National Health System" for the third time; in 2005, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Construction"; in 2009, it was awarded the title of "Advanced Unit for Cultural Construction" by the State Council.

The hospital was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective of National Health System" for the third time in 2004, "Advanced Unit of National Spiritual Civilization Construction Work" in 2005, "Advanced Unit of National Hospital Culture Construction" for several times, "Contribution Award of Shanghai Shanghai Expo Quality Service" issued by the State Council in 2009, and "The First Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Passing the Certification of ISO9001 Quality Management System" in 2001.

The hospital has two departments, east and west, with 1,200 authorized beds and 1,320 open beds. The western part is located at No. 185 Pu'an Road in Huangpu District, adjacent to Huaihai Park, covering an area of 28 acres. The eastern part is located at No. 528, Zhangheng Road, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Pudong, with an investment of 600 million yuan and an area of 160 acres, which is a garden hospital integrating modern architecture and traditional features. Founded in 2001, Shuguang Hospital Group now has more than 10 member units, and in 2008, it was approved to become the "International Exchange and Cooperation Base of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine".

The hospital has remarkable Chinese medicine characteristics and outstanding advantages. The hospital now has three key disciplines under the "11th Five-Year Plan" of the Ministry of Education of China: Chinese Orthopedics and Traumatology, Chinese Internal Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (Chinese Pharmaceutics and Chinese Medicine Clinical Pharmacology). There are two national key clinical specialties: Hepatology, Orthopedics and Traumatology. National "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" Key Specialties: Nephrology, Endocrinology, Spleen and Stomach Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Anus and Intestines, Pulmonary Diseases, Gynecology, Critical Care Medicine, Nursing, Clinical Pharmacy. The Emergency Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the emergency base of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Preparation Room is the national base of traditional Chinese medicine preparation and dosage reform.

More than 70 specialties opened by the hospital have their own specialties, which are unique and famous all over the country. In recent years, the hospital insists on strengthening the connotation construction of traditional Chinese medicine, and has set up "Famous Doctor Diagnosis and Treatment Center", "Traditional Diagnosis and Treatment Center" and "Center for Treating Undiagnosed Diseases", "Shi's Wound Section", "Park's Anal and Intestinal Section", "Cai's Bookstore" and other departments. The hospital has established 5 national famous old Chinese medicine experts' inheritance studios and 12 Shanghai famous Chinese medicine experts' studios in order to do a good job of inheriting the academic ideas of famous old Chinese medicine experts.

With several intensive care units, advanced medical facilities, and a complete range of internal and external departments, the hospital has acquired a strong comprehensive treatment capacity, and has become one of the six key units of Shanghai's public **** health prevention and treatment system and one of the three emergency centers in Pudong. The National TCM Hospital Quality Monitoring Center of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Shanghai TCM Medical Quality Control Center are also located in the hospital. 2010, the hospital became one of the designated hospitals for the Shanghai World Expo, and assumed the task of providing medical support for the medical site of the Expo Area C. The hospital is also a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The hospital has a total of more than 1800 employees, 102 of whom have full senior titles and 41 are doctoral supervisors. As one of the first clinical medical schools among Chinese medicine colleges and universities in China, and the clinical base of the WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine, Shuguang Clinical Medical College has 17 teaching and research departments, 7 doctoral training sites, 10 master's training sites and 3 postdoctoral mobile stations. Each year, it undertakes the clinical teaching of more than 800 times of various students.
