The "Code Blue" in the show's title is one of the coded phrases used by emergency centers to say that they have been informed of a sudden change in the patient's condition and that an emergency or the most serious of situations has called for an all-call-out. The whole crew is assembled.
One of the key vehicles involved in the show is the medical helicopter, which is now being planned in a number of countries around the world in an effort to get doctors on the scene in the shortest possible time to treat patients, with specialists able to arrive in less than 30 minutes when a patient's life is in danger. Japan passed a bill last June to start adding this medical device, and so far Tokyo and Osaka have started using it in two regions.
While Fuji TV has produced a number of medical dramas before, including "The White Tower," "The Doctor's Office on the Five Islands," and "Medical Dragon," this show is a new endeavor because the doctors are no longer confined to a hospital, but also to a helicopter, which, of course, makes things more difficult for both the cast and the crew.
But trust that the cast will never cut corners just because of the difficulties they encountered, and will still deliver the best episodes to the audience in this hot summer.
CODE BLUE Official Website Interview with Yamashita Tomohisa Wednesday, July 30, 2008 17:08 Flying Doctor Candidate Ranzawa Kosaku Yamashita as Tomohisa
Q: First of all, please talk about your feelings after reading the script.
I started reading it from the shooting schedule. My feeling was that the whole story was very coherent and a very good one, but at the same time I felt a lot of pressure. Because it shows the audience the place where human lives are most at stake and tells the story of first aid using a state-of-the-art helicopter, there is no doubt that it is a social drama. However, it's a good drama because it's a bit tiring to watch all the time, so there are some light-hearted scenes and the heart-to-heart communication between the flying doctor and the four patients is also described in detail. Although it's not appropriate for me to say this,...... (laughs)
Q:Do you know about the emergency helicopter?
Yes. I've seen it in documentaries occasionally. It's an honor to be able to stand up and present the new things established by last year's legislation to the audience in the first place, I'd say.
Q: Impressions of that documentary?
It was simply that I thought it was amazing, and I didn't realize I could do something like that (laughs).
Q: What kind of character is Kosaku Ranzawa in this role?
It can be said that he is very greedy,......, so in order to improve his skills, he wants to improve his skills by treating patients with serious illnesses rather than communicating with them. In this character, there are also feelings and emotions towards the patients, which makes people think "something must have happened to him in the past"...... In short, there are a lot of mysterious parts.
Q:At first glance, is it cool?
Yeah. It's pretty cool.
Q:What do you remember about Bluezephyr when you were playing the character?
He's not the kind of person who gives off a cold vibe easily in terms of his behavior, in terms of the way he speaks, but he's very aloof in terms of his thoughts, in terms of the character's heart. It would be nice if I could show these aspects well. I visited the hospital before the drama started filming, and I was impressed by the fact that the resuscitation department was so busy that there was no chance for doctors to talk face-to-face, and they had to look at the patient and talk all the time. I also watched the surgery scene of other departments. Once the operation site was determined, it was quiet and no sound was made, and the rescue was not so much rushed as filled with a sense of urgency. That's what I wanted to show.
Q:I've heard that 10 minutes after a cardiac arrest is the key to resuscitation.
The patient came in, and normally, if they are sent to the operating room for surgery, and when I went there the situation was so urgent that I started the surgery right where I was ...... I was taken aback. It seems easy to say now, but I was so scared that I became anemic (laughs). I really feel that "people here are saving lives.
Q:You said you saw a documentary about the helicopter, but did you feel differently when you watched the documentary than when you experienced the helicopter live?
Because of the fact that the success rate of using helicopters is increasing, and because of that, I want to use this drama as an opportunity to learn about helicopters, or to help improve the equipment of helicopters, etc. I think it's worthwhile to make an effort to do what I can, even if it's an opinion, and that's what I'm doing right now. After all, I think that older people are very concerned about medical issues, but younger people are not. I haven't cared much about medical dramas so far, but it would be great if I could get my teenage friends interested in this drama through the story of four young doctors who are struggling to become flying doctors, so that they can realize the importance of life and value every day. Because one really doesn't know what will happen tomorrow. Even if you think you'll live for many years to come, there's a chance that something unexpected might happen to you someday, isn't there? Thinking this way, I hope that they will be interested in this aspect while they are here.
Q:Everyone makes mistakes, and doctors are no exception, but flight surgeons don't make any mistakes, do they?
It is never allowed. Mistakes are not allowed. That's the only way to put it (laughs). No matter what, you can't say, "Everyone makes mistakes. But doctors understand how serious the consequences of mistakes can be, and it seems that doctors can't even eat well or sleep ...... well.
Q:Blue Zephyr, although young, but was not overwhelmed by such pressure, to be able to make the exact judgment to face the treatment, so confident in his what do you think?
Blue Zephyr is a very calm person. Because he is calm and sober, he is able to carry out the treatment with ease. On the contrary, it wouldn't be so good if he got too emotionally involved. From that perspective, the cool personality might just help him to be able to think calmly.
Q: I'm sure there will be a lot of medical terminology in this drama, right?
Yeah. It's very difficult to do. While acting, and while filming, you have to do a lot of actions that normal people can't imagine ......
Q: Is there anything from your experience of having been to a hospital that can be used as a reference for this drama?
I haven't been hospitalized yet. Although I've been to the hospital to visit patients ......, the patient's position is completely different from the doctor's position. In the case of Lan Ze, since he doesn't care that much about the patients, he hasn't thought about it yet, but in the case of the other 3 doctors, there are a lot of scenes where they have to interact with the patients and have heartwarming scenes, so everyone must be thinking about how to play the role well.
Q:There are actually helicopter ride scenes, right? ......
I think there are a lot (laughs).
Q:Not afraid of heights?
Not at all. Also rode in a helicopter many times. So I was looking forward to it. Of course, I was also prepared for the extremely hard shooting. The space inside the helicopter is very small. The interior of the ambulance helicopter is quite simple. There are only the most necessary things.
Q:What is your impression of Shigaraki Yuki and Toda Erika, who both star in this ****, in terms of their image and the type of roles they play?
Both of them have parts that overlap with the character's personality. This is the second time I've worked with Arakaki Yuki and Toda Erika, and Yuki plays a very orthodox doctor who is very knowledgeable ...... and always prioritizes knowledge and does things quietly. Toda Erika seems to be a picture of "I can do" look, do things quickly and busy look.
Q: This is a story about a group of professionals, what does a professional look like to Yamashita-kun?
Isn't everyone an expert? Although the content about technology and work varies, I can't write an article about the things I'm talking about now. For me, it's like being able to act in dramas and sing, etc. since I was a child, but it's rare to be able to cross over into two lines of work at the same time. I've always been proud of the fact that I've been able to do several things at the same time. In short, I think a person who can take pride in his work can be called a professional.
Q: Do you have a favorite medical drama that you have watched so far?
I have watched medical dramas such as "Dr. Goshima's Clinic". But even though I never thought that I would get sick or have an accident, now that I think about it again, I really don't know when I will die ...... . In this way, a strong interest in medical care was created.

Biography
Synopsis
Depicting a young flying doctor candidate and
who is battling it out there, aboard a medical helicopter in the summer of 2008.
It depicts the struggles of a young flight doctor candidate and
interns
who are instructing the doctors and providing first aid to patients on their way to the hospital.
The story is about the struggles of the flight
interns, who ride in helicopters loaded with medical equipment and treat patients while they are being transported. The story is based on the latest medical scene where helicopters are utilized, and depicts the flight
interns and supervising physicians. The movie is scheduled to be filmed with a real helicopter, and Yamashita will be the doctor who jumps out of the helicopter
. A helicopter doctor is the ultimate physician delivery system in which doctors and nurses rush to the scene to start treatment by using helicopters carrying medical equipment
with patients in need of emergency treatment.
Last June, a special measure bill targeting the distribution of helicopters nationwide was decided, and the drama is a timely reflection of
this social situation. In the drama, the actors will actually ride in the helicopter, both in the intense scenes of the implementation of the treatment,
as well as Yamashita's realistic acting in the helicopter. It's a great way to improve as an actor. Producer Jun Masaaki
hon expressed his confidence in this drama, "This drama has gathered an overwhelmingly popular cast of young actors
to bring the newest medical subject of "flying doctors" to life in a drama format. Using the sky
as a frontline base for life, the drama conveys the struggles of young doctors who are trying to save lives, as well as the urgency of the emergency scene in a visual format.
