The most famous public service single of all time, "We Are the World," was co-written by him and Lionel Richie***. He pioneered modern MTV, transforming the music video from a promotional tool to a form of expression with a musical storyline. The music video for the single "Thriller" was the world's first modern music video and has been hailed as the "greatest music video" of all time, elevating the status of MTV in the modern music industry in an unprecedented way, and today modern MTV is a form of music that is utilized throughout almost the entire modern pop music industry. This year Thriller, considered "culturally, historically, and artistically significant," became the first music video to be collected by the Library of Congress, breaking the white monopoly on pop music, pushing what was then a subculture of black music into the mainstream, and paving the way for future generations of black artists. Growing Up
Michael Jackson, born late in the night of August 29, 1958, in the small industrial town of Gary, Central Indiana, United States, in a black family, his father, Joseph Jackson, and his mother, Katharine Jackson, had nine children, Michael was the seventh. Michael's great-grandmother was a descendant of Negro slaves, and his other distant ancestor was an Indian.
The Jackson family lived in a very modest two-room house at first, with Michael's father working and living in a foundry and steel mill, and his mother, Katharine, working as a cashier, the family struggled financially. The city of Gary was very chaotic, and his father was very strict in order to prevent his children from going astray. Michael and his siblings say that their father was very strict with the children and often scolded them, growing up in the shadow of domestic violence. Asked about the situation in a TV interview, Michael had lost his temper and burst into tears.
Michael and his siblings were asked to play a piece of music when they broke the strings on their father's guitar, and the result was a stunning performance that led to their father's idea of "making stars" out of them, hoping that they would make it in the music industry.
The Jackson 5 (1963-1976)
The Jackson 5 and Motown Records
In the mid-1960s, Michael and his four older brothers, organized by their father, formed The Jackson 5, a group that sang R&B music. Brothers, also known as the Jay's Five], a group that featured Michael as the lead singer.
The band's first four singles went on to become number one singles. The Jackson 5's songs moved numerous songwriters and record producers. On Motown Records, the Jackson 5 released 14 albums. And it allowed Michael to release four solo albums as a solo artist.
Starting in November 1972, the Jackson 5 embarked on an international tour that included London, West Germany, Italy, France, India, Japan, as well as Australia and Africa.
Michael released four solo albums on Motown Records, ****.
1972/01/24:Got to Be There
1972/08/04:Ben
1973/05/13:Music & Me
1975/01/16:Forever, Michael
Michael on Motown Records. Solo albums that charted included Got to Be There (1971, first solo album), Rockin' Robin, I wanna Be Where You Are and the number one hit Ben (both released in 1972).
In January 1975, Michael released his fourth album, Forever, Michael. By this time Michael had gradually begun to take over his own music career, meeting privately with the president of Motown Records.
In 1976, the Jackson Five signed a deal with Columbia Records, first joining Philadelphia's international division and later moving to the label's Epic Records.
By leaving Motown, however, they lost the right to use the Jackson 5 name and logo, and when Michael's third brother, Jermaine Jackson, married Berry Gordy's daughter, Hazel Gordy, he chose to stay with Motown as a solo artist. The Jacksons were forced to change their name to The Jacksons.
The Jackson 5 were one of the most successful groups of the 1960s and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, selling 20 million albums and 100 million records. I Want You Back and ABC were recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 greatest hits of all time, and at the age of 11, Jackson's soulful interpretation of the golden oldie I Want You Back was ranked 120th in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Splendid solo career
"Off The Wall" period (1978-1981)
In 1978, Michael starred with Diana Ross in the movie The Wiz (the new Wizard of Oz), and met the movie's music producer Quincy Jones, who, with the two men's understanding of the music of this iconic collaboration, eventually changed pop music forever. On August 10, 1979, Michael released the album Off The Wall. This was the first time that Michael and Quincy Jones collaborated and released their first solo album after going solo from the Jackson 5; the original title of the album was "Girlfriend", which was a song of the same name that was customized for Michael by former Beatles member Paul McCartney and his wife Linda at the time; Rod Temperton of Heatwave also contributed to the album. Temperton also contributed three great tunes to the album; and was joined by Stevie Wonder and Carole Bayer Sager, among others. The combination of the powerful lineup and Michael's genius made the album the first monument on Michael Jackson's path to the throne.
When the global disco boom died down in the late '70s, Michael stepped into the vacuum, and the success of Off The Wall, which was hailed as "the perfect combination of disco and soul," enabled him to triumphantly break away from his former image as a child star and be recognized as a new generation of adult singers. The success of Off The Wall was a turning point in Michael's career as he triumphantly shook off his child star image and was recognized as a new generation of adult superstar. This genius work of rock, soul, funk, jazz, folk, disco and more will forever be remembered as a classic of "post-Motown glamour" for generations to come. With its smooth R&B sound and obvious disco leanings, Off The Wall turned Michael into the Stevie Wonder of the 80's. The album stayed on the US Albums Chart for 84 weeks, with all four singles reaching the Top 10 (two #1's), a chart record. Off The Wall also spent an astonishing 173 weeks on the UK charts and became the first album in British music history to sit on five chart-topping gold singles. By the end of 1980, the album had sold some 11 million copies worldwide. It was certainly an exciting shot in the arm for the then-depressed music industry. The song "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" earned Michael the first Grammy of his solo career, for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance. Best R&B Male Vocalist".
"Off The Wall," the most iconic expression of disco-driven post-Motown glamour, was a huge triumph for both producer Quincy Jones and Michael. Off The Wall was an instant hit. The singles "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and their videos were number one singles. Another lyrical song, "She's Out Of My Life", also reached the Top 10. The album sold more than 10 million copies worldwide within a year of its release and spent 84 weeks in the U.S. Albums Chart, marking a major turning point in Michael's career.
The Thriller period (1982-1984)
In 1982, Michael began work on the album "Thriller" and performed "The girl is mine" with Michael at the White House Paul McCartney. Originally titled Starlight, Thriller was intended as a tribute to Michael's mother. In post-production, dissatisfied with the mixing of the songs, the perfectionist MJ re-recorded the entire album at the risk of being sued by his employer for breach of contract. In the midst of a family crisis and life's challenges, Jackson used his work to send a sad, dark message to society, or rather to vent his anger; Jackson abandoned the use of his early hits (from "I Want You Back" to " Don't Stop 'Til You're Back" to "I Want You Back" to "I Don't Stop 'Til You're Back") and abandoned the use of his early hits (from "I Want You Back" to " Don't Stop 'Til You're Back"). Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"), Jackson eschewed the boyish falsetto of his early hits (from "I Want You Back" to " Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough") in favor of a more mature, wounded voice. This new stance gave his work a deeper and more emotional meaning for the first time, and undoubtedly became a watershed moment in the creative journey of this outstanding artist. The Thriller album produced such hits as "Beat it" and "Billie Jean", and MJ's stunning performance of "Beat it" with guitarist Eddie Van Halen, known as the God of guitars. "Beat it" was the first successful fusion of R&B and hard rock, an excellent crossover model - a new wave created by Jackson himself in 1982 - that changed the face of pop and is now an indispensable part of the popular music lexicon. An indispensable part of the pop lexicon. Billie Jean" broke MTV's racial boundaries by becoming the first black artist to appear on MTV, destroying generations of commercial radio segregation. The single ushered in a new wave of post-soul music, and the video for the single was the first to be released. The album went on to spend 37 weeks at #1 on the U.S. Albums Chart, was a #1 album in every country in the world, had seven Top 10 singles, was nominated for 12 Grammys and won eight awards, and sold more than 110 million copies worldwide in 2009 and counting. In 1985, it broke the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling album of all time. The huge success of the Thriller album broke the white monopoly of the pop music industry and, as Time magazine put it, was what really brought black music into the mainstream.
On March 25, 1983, while performing on the "Motown 25th Anniversary: Yesterday, Today, Forever" television special, Mike performed his first public performance of the "moonwalk," a dance move that stunned the audience. Mike performs the "moonwalk" for the first time in front of the public, shocking the audience. An important moment in the history of modern pop music, the moonwalk established the importance of "visual" performance in pop music and has influenced countless pop artists' stage performances.
In January 1984, Michael was nominated for 12 awards at the Grammy Awards in February, winning a record eight awards, and in May, the Thriller album was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling pop album of all time. In the same year, Michael also received the Medal of Freedom from the Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Civil Rights, received a special achievement award from President Reagan at the White House, and left his handprints on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November.
The Greatest Public Service Single of All Time, "We Are the World" (1984-1985)
In 1985, Michael co-organized and co-wrote with Lionel Richie*** the single "We Are the World". We Are The World" was sung by 45 singers in solidarity with "America for Africa", a major charity campaign to donate money to starving people in Africa. The single sold 7 million copies in the U.S., making it the best-selling single of all time (it wasn't until '97 that it was surpassed by Elton John's "Candle in the Wind.") In 1986, Michael starred in the 3-D film "Captain EO," directed by George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola.
Bad (1987-1990)
On August 31, 1987, Michael released his third solo album, Bad, and began his first worldwide tour. bad was a continuation of the Thriller style, which was an autobiographical look at Jackson's inner world. The Bad album includes the rock song "Dirty Diana", which is about the helplessness and disgust of women who are trying to gain fame and fortune, and the inner struggle and resistance to temptation. "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" is a traditional love ballad, while "Man in the Mirror" is a soulful and heartfelt call to action for the underprivileged, expressing their confusion and seeking solutions. The album "Bad" was another great success for Michael. With its songs and music TV "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man In The Mirror", "Dirty Diana", "Another Part Of Me", "Smooth Criminal" and " Leave Me Alone" were once again fully popular. The only song on the album that wasn't popular was "Liberian Girl." In any case, Michael created the all-time miracle of an album producing five number one singles. Of the seven singles released in the U.S., the first five reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
September 12, 1987 "Bad" tour, "Bad" world tour is Michael Jackson's first solo tour. It was held in 15 countries on 4 continents, ***123 shows, attracting about 4.4 million people to the venue.
Neverland
In March 1988, Jackson purchased Santa Barbara County to build a farm for $17 million Sun. He named it after Neverland, the mesmerizing island in Peter Pan. Michael Jackson added $35 million worth of amenities to the property, which featured private sports fields, playgrounds, a man-made lake, a movie theater and a zoo with statues of Peter Pan characters. The estate also features a gazebo, a miniature train, ornate street lamps, lawns, flower beds, tree houses and an Indian-style village. The zoo is home to animals such as elephants, giraffes and tigers; the amusement park has a Ferris wheel, carousel and bumper cars. There are enough rides for a state carnival. A go-cart track, two separate train tracks - one of which is big enough to run an old steam train on.
Neverland has always been free to children from all over the world, especially sick and underprivileged children, who come to Fantasy Manor in a steady stream through various charities.
In 1989, the MTV channel honored Michael with the "Pioneer Music Video Artist of the Decade" award; in 1990, Michael was named "The Greatest Artist of Our Time" by Columbia Records; and in April of the same year, President George H.W. Bush, Sr. presented Michael with the "Best of the Decade" award at the White House. In April of that year, President George H.W. Bush, Sr. presented Michael with the "Entertainer of the Decade Award" at the White House.

His success led him to be called "The King of Pop." Elizabeth Taylor presented Jackson with the Cultural Heritage Award winner in 1989 - honoring him as "the true king of pop, rock and soul." "King of Pop!" And it's been circulating ever since.
The Dangerous period (1991-1994)
On November 31, 1991, Michael released his new album Dangerous.Michael began experimenting with the New jack swing music that had emerged in the late 80's.The album was much more diversified than his previous one, "bad". The album was more diverse than his previous album "bad", as it appealed to the general public while also calling on the middle class to "save the world". The first half of the album was created specifically for the new style of jack swing music, featuring songs such as "jam" and "remember the time". The hard rock single "Black or White" with Slash became Jackson's most popular single after "Billie Jean". Like "Thriller" and "Bad", "Dangerous" also produced seven hit singles, including "Remember the Time", "In the Closet" and "Will You Be There", in addition to "Black or White". In 17 years, the album has sold more than 32 million copies, making it the most successful New jack swing album in history.

The HIStory Period (1995-1997)
In 1995, Jackson merged with Sony's publishing arm to create Sony/ATV Music to publish his ATV music catalog. Jackson retained half ownership of the Jackson Giant Statue Company in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Then, on June 16, the double-disc album HIStory was released.MJ performed keyboards, synthesizers, drums, percussion, and guitars on History.HIStory gives infinite scope to the imagination, and it mainly chronicles Jackson's hardships and well known struggles.Jackson had a remarkable record of accomplishments, and the first single from HIStory "scream" is a song struggle against the media with a music video done by Jackson and his sister Jenny. The video, which focused on the media's allegations that he had gone to court in 1993, won the Grammy Award for "Best Music Video" in '96, and the R&B-inspired "You Are Not Alone" was the second single, which still holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the first-ever hit by an artist. R&B "You Are Not Alone" was the second single and remains the Guinness Book of World Records' first ever No.1 single in its first week of release, while the third single, "earth song", went No.1 in its first week of release in the UK and stayed at No.1 for six weeks, making it the biggest Christmas No.1 single in the history of the UK singles chart. Other singles include "Stranger in Moscow" with a soulful twist and "fall from grace". Jackson's "fall from grace" is more of a mourning sentiment, while songs like "earth song", "childhood", "little susie" and "the song of the day" are more of a tribute to the past. "childhood," "little susie," and "smile" are all folksy, classical tracks, including "DS," in which he slams Tom Sneddon, describing him as a scumbag with white supremacist views. The double-disc HIStory album has sold more than 20 million copies (out of 40 million) and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Album, making it an artistic and commercial success.

While Invincible was produced to a very high standard, and reached the top of Billboard's Top 200 chart on its release, it was not the most popular album on the charts. While the numbers were impressive, they seemed underwhelming compared to Michael's previous albums." You Rock My World" entered the U.S. pop top 10 and stayed there for only a week, and "Butterflies" hit the top 20 in the U.S. and No. 2 on the R&B charts, but didn't make the pop top 10.
