Compared to female nurses, male nurses have higher wages and better treatment. According to statistics, the employment rate of boys studying nursing can reach 100%. Many hospitals are rushing to recruit male nurses, but even so, there are still very few male nurses who choose to be male nurses. Why is this?
1. Influenced by traditional concepts. In people's traditional concept, the work of nurses is to serve people. If a man engages in such a job, many people will think that this man has no future. Although this concept is very wrong, it still exists in the minds of a considerable number of people. Affected by this concept, many people always have a strange look in their eyes when they look at male nurses. This puts many male nurses under a lot of mental pressure.
2. The work of male nurses is quite tiring and the work pressure is very high. Male nurses are in very short supply in hospitals, but male nurses do not receive the "rare thing comes at a premium" treatment. On the contrary, because male nurses have greater advantages, many heavy and tiring tasks are assigned to male nurses. For example, male nurses are physically stronger than female nurses, so physical work such as carrying things or turning patients over almost entirely falls on male nurses. For another example, male nurses are more proficient in medical equipment, so the operation of many instruments is left to the male nurse.
3. Male nurses don’t know where their future lies. It is an indisputable fact that male nurses are very popular when they are young. But what if you get older? Should a boy have to be a male nurse for the rest of his life? When a working person chooses a job, job development prospects are a very important consideration. So what are the prospects for male nurses? If these mechanical tasks are simply repeated all the time, many boys will feel that their self-worth is getting smaller and smaller.
4. Being surrounded by female nurses is a source of distress. Perhaps many boys feel that it would be so happy if their colleagues were all young girls. As the saying goes, if men and women work together, the work will not be tiring. But as a male nurse, it's the exact opposite. Because male nurses are men, when working together, male nurses bear more labor and responsibilities. More often than not, female nurses will push a lot of work to male nurses. The reason is that they are girls and cannot do the hard work, and men should bear it. This makes many male nurses feel helpless.
So, my personal suggestion is that if you can study medicine and become a doctor, don’t squeeze in as a nurse. It’s not as wonderful as you think.
