Overview

Shanghai Higher Institute of Medical Devices (SHIMD) was founded by the Ministry of Health of China in 1960, and has been under the leadership of the State Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs (SAMA) since 1981, and has been transferred from the Ministry of Health of China to the Shanghai Municipal Government since September 2000, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. In May 2003, approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the school was transferred to the management of Shanghai University of Technology. In nearly half a century of development, it has made positive contributions to the cause of human health and the development of China's medical device industry and pharmacy equipment.

At present, it is the only independent institution of higher learning specializing in the training of medical device and pharmacy equipment engineering and technical personnel. Nearly half a century of schooling precipitation, the formation of the combination of production, learning and research mode of schooling, pre-vocational and post-vocational **** lifting of schooling policy, staggered competition in the school of thought, the student employment career targeted at a clear cultivation goals. The school covers a total area of 251 acres, with a total building area of 175,000 square meters. The school has a good teaching infrastructure and student growth environment. It has more than 10 professional laboratories, such as medical equipment engineering experimental training center, medical electronic information engineering experimental training center, medical imaging engineering experimental training center, pharmacy equipment experimental training center, etc.; there are also teaching facilities such as graphic information center, voice laboratory, various types of basic laboratories and public **** training center, and a better campus network; the library collection of 220,000 books, 600 various types of periodicals, more than 2,000 electronic books, and more than 600 types of electronic books. The school has 281 teaching staff, 178 full-time teachers, including 55 teachers with high titles, 60% of the full-time teachers with master's degree or above, 64% of the full-time teachers with dual-type teachers, and 48% of the full-time teachers with part-time teachers.

The school has a precision medical equipment department, medical electronic information department, medical imaging equipment department, management department, basic department, graphic information center and teaching research office, student office, enrollment and employment office and other eleven functional offices.

The school has invited more than 40 batches of nearly 100 people from universities, research institutions and enterprises in Japan, Germany, the United States, France, Britain, Sweden, Norway, Austria, Vietnam, India and other countries to visit the school for lectures and academic exchanges. At the same time, the school has sent more than 10 batches of more than 50 teachers and students to Japan, Germany, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Norway, Australia and other countries for exchanges and investigations, further training and internships, and to attend international academic conferences.

The school insists on basing itself on Shanghai and serving the whole country, and the annual enrollment of foreign students is nearly 50%, and the school has cultivated and sent more than 14,000 graduates to 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China. Graduates of the average employment rate of 96% or more, in recent years have been higher employment rate to maintain a leading level in similar institutions.
