Overview of Beijing Ankang Hospital

The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Compulsory Treatment Administration, formerly known as Beijing Ankang Hospital Drug Rehabilitation Center, was established in 1995 and is the largest drug dependence treatment facility in Beijing. While providing standardized drug detoxification treatment, it also carries out interventions for high-risk groups of AIDS patients and a variety of psychological rehabilitation treatments, educates drug addicts on the rule of law and the dangers of drugs, and carries out psychological and family interventions for those who return to the community.In November 2003, the center drew on advanced foreign drug treatment concepts and combined them with the actual situation in China to set up the "Sunflower" treatment community. The community is based on group and individual psychotherapy, and carries out a variety of activities in the form of daily morning meetings, emotional collision groups, peer-to-peer groups, art and emotion groups, dance parties and various skill learning groups. It enriches the spiritual life of the residents, so that they can learn to be responsible for their own behavior and regain their sense of responsibility, self-confidence, and love of life. On June 24, 2006, Ankang Hospital moved from the town of Hanchunhe in Fangshan District to Shunyi, and the new site covers an area of 9,600 square meters, with 1,000 beds, and introduces medical equipments and psychosocial rehabilitation laboratories of the international advanced level.
