The predecessor of Shanghai Bohou Stomatological Hospital is Shanghai Xu Brothers Dental Clinic.
The first Xu Brothers Dental Clinic was founded at No.26, Lane 85, Allegheny, French Concession in 1942; the second clinic was opened at No.1064, Yan'an East Road in 1943; and the third clinic was opened at No.206, Yuyuan Road in 1945.
After the founding of New China in 1949, the first Dental Association was established in Shanghai, and the two brothers were the directors of the Dental Association. 1952, Mr. Xu Rixin and others prepared for the establishment of the stomatology department of the Ninth People's Hospital of Shanghai, and served as the first director of stomatology, and served as a member of the Southern Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference for the sessions of the Southern Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (part of the present-day Huangpu District, part of the Pudong District). Mr. Xu Risheng and others established the Shanghai Jing'an District Dental Clinic.
In 1966 Xu's Dental Clinic was closed down during the Cultural Revolution. 1999, Mr. Xu Tiexiong, the son of Mr. Xu Rixin, founded Shanghai Bo Hou Medical Development Co. From 1999 to 2015, Bo Hou Group has set up a number of subsidiaries such as Shanghai Bo Hou Medical Devices Co., Ltd, Shanghai Jin Kang Medical Devices Co., Ltd, Shanghai Meda Denture Production Co., Ltd, Shanghai Bo Hou Hospital Investment Management Co., Ltd, Shanghai Jialiang Oral Clinic Co., Ltd, Shanghai Boyuan Oral Clinic Co., Ltd and Shanghai Boheng Oral Clinic Co. Ltd, Shanghai Boyuan Dental Clinic Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Boheng Dental Clinic Co.
In 2010-2016, Bo Hou Group determined the strategy of focusing on the development of dental hospitals, based on Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, and radiating to the whole country, and successively set up 5 dental hospitals in Changxing, Zhejiang, Jiashan, Shanghai, and Nantong, Jiangsu.
