The "China Red Star Award for Innovative Design", jointly organized by the China Industrial Design Association and the Beijing Industrial Design Promotion Center, is known as the "Oscar" in China's industrial design industry. The award is certified by the International Federation of Industrial Design Associations (IFIDA) and is on a par with the Red Dot Award of Germany, the IDEA Award of the United States and the G-MARK Award of Japan. Since its inception, the Red Star Award has greatly promoted the development of China's design industry and played a positive role in encouraging domestic enterprises to innovate on their own, establish their own brand image and promote the internationalization of Chinese design.
The Red Star Award is gradually becoming an important driving force for the development of the industrial design industry around the world, and is an affirmation of an enterprise's industrial design capability and innovation, as well as a manifestation of the product's social recognition.
In the 2012 Red Star Award, PEGATRON Design made further efforts and won the Red Star Award again for three works, including a Braille reading machine, a Nepalese soymilk machine and a Jiuyang soymilk machine. Among them, the Braille Brailler was independently developed and designed by PEGATRON Design. Unlike familiar IT products, this lightweight device designed to help visually impaired people learn text better overcomes the shortcomings of similar products in the existing market with its unique concept and innovation points, and is more in line with the usage habits of visually impaired people and better able to meet their usage needs. It helps blind children to shorten their time in learning Braille, thus achieving more efficient learning. In the whole process of research and development, it requires in-depth market research and study, and even more cross-disciplinary combination to be completed.
PEGA D&E planned the exhibition theme From Smart to Savvy for PEGATRON Unitech's 2012 Computex Taipei, conveying the new value of design that is back to the basics of life, demonstrating the evolution of thinking that goes against the grain, and the cleverly hidden details of the exhibition space, which once again amazed the international professional judges.
The theme concept utilizes the nuanced differences and subtle interactions between Smart and Savvy to reposition the innovative framework of the design foundry, while subverting the business-like atmosphere of a typical computer show. More and more electronic products are defined as Smart Devices, which give various functions and applications to enhance the convenience of use in a direct and visible way; on the other hand, Savvy is the subtraction principle of removing the essentials to discover and satisfy the hidden user needs behind the products/services. Product design should be close to the essence and value of life, evolving from intelligence to wisdom, and creating meaningful and timeless designs.
The Taipei Pavilion at the World Design Expo was grandly opened on 10/22 (Saturday) under the cross-disciplinary integration of three major companies. The pavilion is built by a honeycomb-type BaoTai brick made from 100% recycled waste materials; PEGATRON Design plans to implement an interactive "sound" installation that uses sound waves to project images and allows people to stand in front of a giant microphone to cheer for Taipei; and XianQiu Video gathers the top ten emerging designers in Taipei to make a cool MV-style short film. The visual impact of the video is unprecedented!
The Taipei World Design Expo, which is the center of attention of the design community, will be held at the Songshan Tobacco Factory for one month. PEGATRON Design has once again expressed its passion and support for design after last week's Taiwan Designers' Week, and the exhibition space of less than 5 ping is filled with more than 30 colorful lamps, which not only stands out from all other exhibition areas, but also attracts a lot of visitors to join the event with their friends and family in a warm atmosphere.
The World Design Expo was held in Taipei for the first time this year, with 58 enterprises, 50 design companies and 43 design promotion organizations*** from 34 countries, including Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, the United States and the United Kingdom. The exhibition is divided into three phases, which will be held in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Nangang Exhibition Hall and World Trade Center. The scale of the exhibition is 30 times larger than that of a normal design exhibition, and it is expected to attract more than 1 million attendees.
PEGATRON's Crease Light is an evolution of its wall sticker series launched in 2009. Continuing the concept of "switching power on/off between flat and three-dimensional surfaces," this Crease Light once again creates amazing magical effects. PEGATRON's Milan leap in design
Look up to the beauty, enjoy the moment, and see the fun in a moment. PEGA Design (PEGA D&E) is going forward to the Milan International Furniture Fair in Italy, the grand event of the global design circle, and with the theme of Present Perfect, it will interpret the classic poetry of the here and now through a series of interactive works integrating design, electromechanics, etc.
Present Perfect
Present Perfect is a new concept in the design industry, and it is the first time that PEGA D&E is going forward to Milan.
Present Perfect (完美进行式) is intended to illustrate a unique user experience. Compared with the general emphasis on product function or effect, PEGATRON Design shifts the focus to every fleeting moment of use, and in this second of time and space, the response generated by the work also constitutes a chapter of the overall use of the situation. The Perfection of Progress celebrates the playfulness of visual presentation, the cleverness of interactive behavior, and the tactile sensation created by the texture of the material, all of which are perfect when they are intertwined.
Enjoy the moment with Perfect Progressions.
Attentive is a set of speakers that turn on their own when they hear someone: when they detect someone around them, they automatically play music for the listener; when no one is listening, they turn into a corner and wait for the next time they are approached.
The Attentive is a new kind of reciprocal relationship between people and things that need to talk to each other, too.
Beanstalk
It's not just children who thrive in the eyes of their parents, it's also family cohesion that flourishes.
This is the sweetest of both worlds, a family ruler that shows the gradual increase in height through a light-up scale, and each height can be matched to a branch shaped like a pocket, which can be labeled with a photo to capture the joy of the growing day.
ColorUp
The sensory stimulation that color brings to life is increasingly taken for granted. A table lamp uses its magical power to unleash the colors hidden in objects one by one, becoming a space wizard that decorates the environment.
ColorUp is a color-changing table lamp that consists of a color-sensitive bulb and lamp base. Whether it's a red heart on a dress or a light blue sky in a storybook, simply press the bulb close and gently squeeze it to draw in the color; return it to the lamp base and ColorUp will instantly wake you up. ColorUp, your own color palette!
Crease Light
Crease Light is a lightweight table lamp that incorporates traditional origami techniques. By manually adjusting the opening and closing range of the lampshade, you can freely change the brightness of the light, and the vintage switch pull ring seems to be a silent protest against the cold technology products. The light and shadows from the lamp seem to tell the story of the picture.
Wa!!! Sticker
This collection of standing lamps, radios, and perfume bottles combines the decorative aesthetic of origami with the functionality of electrical appliances.
Through the opening and closing of the paper lampshades, speakers, and bottles, the originally flat wall decorations take on a three-dimensional appearance. Functions are also hidden from view: the paper lampshade lights up when it is pulled open and goes out when it is flattened, the secret lies in the LED film inside; the folded speaker is a radio that can be adjusted in terms of channel and volume; and the perfume bottle turns from flat to three-dimensional, instantly filling the room with a fragrant scent.
The two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, the decorative and the functional, are just two sides of the same coin
+/- Desk
Even in the organized post-digital era, a disorganized and cluttered desk is unavoidable, a convenience when you need it, and an eyesore if you don't for a while. Wouldn't life be easier if desks could be turned on and off as quickly as apps?
+/- Desk is a seemingly lonely but rich desk that integrates a desk lamp, a music player, a bookshelf, and a computer stand. What you don't need to use is immediately put away, leaving a fresh office space, and the view from your desk is yours to decide. PEGA D&E, which has made a name for itself in design, is now welcoming its third design branch. After Taipei and Shanghai, the Beijing Design Center was established in March, irrigating the capital with more creative nutrients.

PEGA D&E has been able to transform a concept and a business opportunity into a tangible product within a limited period of time, through the rapid integration of software and hardware by internal R&D staff, with only six months from the time of development to completion. We also understand the needs of the consumer market and provide time-to-market solutions to our clients with both extensive and in-depth market research and insight. PEGA D&E (PEGATRON Design) has appeared on the list of winners of the 2011 German iF packaging design awards, iF communication design awards, and iF material design awards. After winning four iF product awards last year, PEGATRON Design has once again become the biggest winner in the spotlight! PEGATRON Design is one of the few design teams in the world that is based on industrial design and extends to brand visual planning. Since its establishment in 2008, PEGATRON Design has not only gained international fame and awards in the field of product design, but has also been active in providing clients with brand visual planning services, and has repeatedly taken the initiative to assist Taiwanese brands in their efforts to promote themselves to the international arena.
The work "Bloom", which won the iF Communication Design Award this year, was the theme of the exhibition presented by PEGATRON Design at the Taiwan Designers' Week in 2010. A series of interactive works based on soft materials demonstrates PEGATRON's unique experimentalist character. In response to the colorful connotation of "Bloom," PEGATRON Design invites visitors to experience the beauty of a blooming flower scene with a colorful and lively atmosphere from the identification of the exhibition site, to the publicity, to the space planning, and to the web design.
The "tea ceremony" is a traditional Taiwanese custom. In summer and fall, when it is hot and muggy, wooden buckets with tea are placed in the pavilions along the ancient roads in mountain villages for passers-by to quench their thirst without paying for the tea, hence the name "Shi Cha", also known as "serving tea". Winner of the iF packaging design award, "Shi Cha" continues this customary name with the handle shape of a tea pot, highlighting the neat square box, like the immortal spirit that runs through the past and present, and fully expresses the importance of the gift giver to the guests.
PEGATRON Design, which has always emphasized on material research and development, has won the iF Material Design Award for the third consecutive year. PEGATRON Design has always emphasized on material research and development, from the use of bamboo and sheet materials that emphasize the special characteristics of the appearance, to the use of medical waste materials that were introduced in 2010 in response to the demand for environmental protection, in order to open up new horizons in the application of notebook computer materials. This year's award-winning "paper plastic" continues to be environmentally friendly, and is an environmentally friendly material that combines recycled paper and PP plastic. Its strength and elasticity are close to those of ABS, which is commonly used in laptop computers, but it is easier to obtain and cheaper, which gives it an advantage over other environmentally friendly plastics. PEGA Design & Engineering announced today that it has won four German iF product design awards in one go, for the Italia and California notebooks developed by PEGA, the Lucid Tablet PC, and the D08 Soymilk Maker designed for Jiuyang, the largest soybean milk maker brand in China. The D08 Soymilk Maker was designed for Jiuyang, the largest brand of soymilk maker in China.
***There were 2,756 entries from 43 countries around the world competing for the 2011 iF product design awards, and PEGATRON Design, a design team under PEGATRON Unitech, insists on injecting new souls into product design with breakthrough thinking logic. The award-winning products not only start from the design perspective, but also highlight the differences in process and material innovations, so that they can stand out from the many outstanding works.

Soybean milk maker is a product that conveys the concept of health, and has been growing at an amazing speed in China recently. PEGATRON Design conducted a month-long study of the Chinese soybean milk maker market, and through actual use of similar products on the market, we defined what users need to be satisfied most. In terms of interface design, PEGATRON thought about the steps of using a soybean milk machine and the overall appearance of the modeling language, using a combination of different cut surfaces, so that the lighter material is presented in a smooth manner, while the heavier material is trimmed with ribs and cut corners.
Italia is a laptop that subverts the traditional structure of a laptop by intentionally revealing the usually hidden metal frame, combining function and form to not only reduce the use of materials, but also strengthen the durability of the product and make it visually thinner, lighter, and easier to carry; and breaking away from the established mindset of the design of the mechanism by replacing the screen and the system interface with a rubberized sheet as a cover for the wiring, allowing the soft material to be used as a cover. In addition, the design of the system is based on a rubberized sheet, which is used to wrap around the screen and the system's wiring, maximizing the use of soft materials.
California uses an innovative aluminum extrusion process to create the fuselage, with a straight aluminum extrusion sheet structure running through the entire form factor as its uniqueness, striving for simplicity and elegance in appearance, as well as an aluminum extrusion type that creates a basket of empty space to make the overall visual appearance thinner and lighter. The aluminum extrusion process not only increases the strength, but also saves the number of parts in the body, creating more value with a minimum number of parts. PEGA Extra is a creative platform combining interactive design and electromechanical technology, founded by PEGA D&E. Each year, a series of conceptual works are launched by PEGA D&E. The conceptual works are designed and developed by PEGA D&E. PEGA Extra is a creative platform that combines interactive design and mechatronic technology, and was founded by PEGA D&E. Each year, a series of conceptual works are launched by PEGA D&E designers from different fields to interpret the same theme from different perspectives, in order to revitalize each other's creativity. 2008 was founded and now it has been in its third year, and it has always been amazed by the international arena.
Taiwan Designers' Week is also the third year of PEGA Extra's existence, and four experimental works have been created under the theme of Bloom: Leaning, Ben, Illusionary Colors, and Light Tree. In addition to showing PEGA D&E designers' care and expectation for life, it also demonstrates the accumulated strength of the consumer electronics industry over the years, allowing visitors to see the infinite possibilities of creativity through the intertwining of sound and light and interactive technology.
"In addition to designing IT products, PEGA D&E also gives designers many opportunities to experiment with other areas of product design to revitalize each other's creativity. This time, from conceptualization to electromechanical development and physical completion, all works are entirely handled by the designers themselves, and I believe that this spirit of practical work is very valuable to the designers individually and as a team." PEGA D&E Design Director Richard Hsiao said.
The second PEGA Extra, presented at Taiwan Designer Week 2009 and Shanghai Hundred Percentage, took the theme of "three-dimensional frenzy" and presented the art of origami from Japan in its design, allowing users to easily activate the product's functions in the process of transforming from flat to three-dimensional. Among them, the exhibition DM won the 2009 German iF Communication Design Award; and the Daocha - Universal Tea Series even won the Gold Award! PEGA D&E announced that it has won the iF Communication Design Award in Germany. After winning the red dot Communication Design Award in 2009 and the iF Material Award earlier this year, PEGA D&E once again proves to the international community that Taiwan's design energy is endless.
The iF Communication Design Award, which is held annually in Germany, is a major event for the design industry. Not only does it have an international standard of selection, but the winning products and design companies will also be in the spotlight, with competitions in categories such as digital media, print media, packaging design, enterprise architecture, and cross-media.
With more than 1,687 entries from 26 countries around the world, it took more than just a distinctive piece of work to stand out from the crowd, it took a lot more than just a wow factor and meaning to win. The winner of the 2009 red dot Communication Award, Dao Tea, was repackaged in a gift box for the Universal Tea Group, which was favored by the iF jury and won the Gold Award.
Daocha is a way to experience the oriental tea ceremony through the process of tasting tea; pouring tea and enjoying the fragrance of tea flowing slowly into the cup.
The Tao Tea is a specially designed packaging for tea bags. The special structure combines the teapot, the tea bag, and the tea cup into one. Small enough to carry around, users can simply tear it along the dotted line and immediately enjoy the tea tasting process full of oriental culture. The Universal Tea Gift Box is a collection of tea from five of the world's most representative tea-producing regions, with packaging designed according to the region and the characteristics of the tea leaves. Finally, the Dao Cha Tea Gift Box is a collection of five tea varieties from the world's most representative tea-producing regions.

The iF Communication Design Award is a prestigious award in the design world, and is now in its sixth year of existence. ***With 1,687 entries from 26 countries, the awards cover a wide range of categories including digital media, print media, packaging design, corporate architecture, and transmedia.
Pega D&E reinterpreted the relationship between flatness and three-dimensionality with the theme of 'Three Dimensional Mania' at Taiwan Designers Week 2009 and 100% Design Shanghai. Through the Japanese popular art of origami, the objects are simultaneously activated and closed at the moment of opening and closing. The design of the exhibition's Chinese publicity materials incorporates this core concept, allowing visitors to experience the fun of origami on their own, and at the same time giving the originally flat objects a three-dimensional appearance, echoing the function of the exhibits from hidden to visible.
