How many airports are there in Sabah, Malaysia?

There is only one airport in the state of Sabah, Malaysia, and it is the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

Kota Kinabalu International Airport is the busiest international airport in Sabah, Malaysia and the second busiest in the country after Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Located near the city center of Kota Kinabalu, it is a focus city for Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines. The airport is divided into two terminals, which are divided into Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.?

1. Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is the main terminal of the airport. It is equipped with 12 boarding gates, 6 air bridges and duty free stores. Malaysia Airlines is the main airline in this terminal. It can handle 5.2 million passengers per year.

The old terminal is currently being demolished and the new terminal is now in use, when the old terminal is demolished and the other half of the new terminal is built, it will be fully operational and therefore able to handle more passengers as well as park more planes, making it the second busiest international airport in Malaysia.

2. Terminal 2

Located at Tanjung Aru (Tanya), the terminal is only about 10 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu city. With a total area of about 13,000 square meters, Terminal 2 has 23 counters for international and domestic flights, 13 immigration counters (6 departure and 7 arrival counters) and can handle 2,000 passengers per hour and 3.5 million passengers per year.

Modern features include nine parking areas for Boeing 737s or A320 Airbuses with nine parking bays. The terminal also has at least 172 parking spaces. The terminal has a fast-food restaurant, food and beverage outlets, a supermarket, a left-behind baggage service, a foreign currency exchange kiosk, a VIP lounge, a smoking room, and three small cloisters.
