Purpose of the Technical Guidelines on Cleaning and Disinfecting the Environment and Equipment and Facilities of Medical Institutions during the Epidemic of New Crown Epidemic

Recently, the State Council's Comprehensive Group on Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for Responding to the New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic issued a Circular on Further Precision and Standardization of Carrying Out Prevention, Control and Disinfection Work in the New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic. Excerpts are as follows.

Scope and object of disinfection

Determine the scope and object of on-site disinfection based on the results of epidemiological investigations. Disinfect the environment and objects that may be contaminated during the hospitalization and transfer of cases or asymptomatic infected persons at any time. Final disinfection should be carried out for places where cases or asymptomatic infected persons have lived or been active, such as residences, workplaces, places of study, places of diagnosis and treatment, means of transfer, and other places that may be contaminated after their departure (e.g., hospitalization, transfer, discharge, and death). Final disinfection is not required for places with no obvious contaminants that are briefly passed by cases or asymptomatic infected persons.

Selection of disinfection methods

Depending on the environmental risks, the degree of contamination and the characteristics of the items, chemical disinfection methods such as disinfectant spraying, misting, wiping, soaking, etc., or physical disinfection methods such as ultraviolet rays, circulating air disinfectors, etc., or closed sealing, prolonged static storage, or environmentally sound treatment according to the disposal of medical wastes, etc., can be selected.

Diagnostic and therapeutic supplies

Try to choose disposable diagnostic and therapeutic supplies, non-disposable diagnostic and therapeutic supplies should be preferred to pressure steam sterilization, and non-heat-resistant items can be disinfected or sterilized by choosing a chemical disinfectant or low-temperature sterilization equipment.

Environmental surfaces

Containing chlorine disinfectant, chlorine dioxide, quaternary ammonium salt, peroxyacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, monopotassium peroxysulfate and other disinfectants can be chosen to disinfect by wiping, spraying or immersion; physical disinfection and other harmless treatment methods can be used which are proven to be safe and effective.

Indoor air

Can choose peroxyacetic acid, chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide and other disinfectants spray disinfection; can also choose circulating wind air disinfector, ultraviolet light or other safe and effective physical disinfection methods and other harmless treatment methods.

Hand hygiene

It is recommended to use hand sanitizers to rub hands for disinfection, but also 75% ethanol, hydrogen peroxide and other disinfectants.
