The Year of the Rabbit is based on the traditional Chinese calendar, the "rabbit" in the Chinese Zodiac corresponds to the twelve earthly branches of the d, the Year of the Rabbit is the year of the d, every twelve years as a cycle. For example, the year 2011 on the Gregorian calendar basically corresponds to the Year of the Rabbit, which is the year of the Xin Mao.
Judgment method:
A year in which the year number is divided by 12 and the remainder is 7 is the Year of the Rabbit.
The formula is: A.D. year number ÷ 12 = some quotient, and the remainder is 7.
For example: 2011 ÷ 12 = quotient 167, and the remainder is 7, then 2011 is the year of the rabbit.
Note that the above are only approximate correspondences, because the world's common Gregorian calendar and the Chinese calendar are two different calendars. The Gregorian calendar takes January 1 as the start of the year, whereas the Chinese calendar takes the day of the first lunar month of spring as the start of the year, and the day of the first lunar month of spring is generally equivalent to February 4 or 5 on the Gregorian calendar.
The Year of the Rabbit is counted from the spring of the 24 solar terms, because the Chinese zodiac year is dependent on the stem-and-branch calendar, and the stem-and-branch calendar is a method of dating the year on the stem-and-branch calendar. The official calendar (i.e., the yellow calendar) has been like this for generations. It is not disputed that the lunar calendar only borrows the stem and branch for the year, and its year is from the first day of the first month to New Year's Eve.
But the lunar calendar and the calendar of dry branches are two different calendars, and they differ in the starting point of the year, the rules for dividing the months, and the number of days in a year. Because of the use of the Gregorian calendar after the Republic of China, many people, including a few so-called experts, lack knowledge of the calendar, so the two are often confused.
The Stem and Branch Calendar is a calendar that uses 60 different groups of heavenly stems and earthly branches to mark the year, month, day, and hour, and it is China's unique solar calendar. It starts the year with the beginning of spring and divides the twelve months into twenty-four seasons, each containing two seasons, with no leap months. The calendar is related to the cyclical movement of the earth around the sun, and it reflects the climatic changes of the seasons of the year.
Since ancient times, the Stem and Branch Calendar has been commonly recognized by both the official and private sectors, applied to the disciplines of astronomy, feng shui, numerology, selection techniques and Chinese medicine, and recorded in the official calendars (i.e., the yellow calendars) of successive dynasties.
The official history book of the Qing Dynasty, "Qing Shilu" as an example, the book of the dry branches of the year are divided into spring: such as the China Bookstore photocopy of the "Qing Shilu" of the seventeenth book, the Qianlong Shilu of the ninth book, p. 573, Qianlong twenty-seventh year, December 22nd (gengxu) spring, the "Shilu" is recorded as follows: "gengxu. It is the day of the decennial spring."
See also the Qing Dynasty "Dream of Red Mansions" ninety-five: "This is the year A Yin year December 18th spring, Yuanchun princely day is December 19th, has been handed over to the d year c month," where it is more explicitly pointed out that the dry calendar in the chronological age of the month of the conversion point.
