Acetone (acetone, CH3COCH3), also known as dimethyl ketone, the simplest saturated ketone. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a peculiar pungent odor. Soluble in water and methanol, ethanol, ether, chloroform, pyridine and other organic solvents. It is flammable and volatile, and its chemical properties are more active. At present, the industrial production of acetone in the world is dominated by isopropylbenzene method. Acetone is mainly used in industry as a solvent for explosives, plastics, rubber, fibers, tanning, grease, paint and other industries, but also as an important raw material for the synthesis of ketene, acetic anhydride, iodoform, polyisoprene rubber, methyl methacrylate, chloroform, epoxy resins and other substances.
Butanone colorless transparent liquid. Has a similar odor to acetone. Easily volatile. Can be miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform, oil. Soluble in 4 parts of water, but the solubility decreases when the temperature rises. Can form *** boiling mixture with water (containing 11.3% water), *** boiling point 73.4 ℃ (containing butanone 88.7%). Relative density (d204) 0.805. freezing point -86℃. Boiling point 79.6℃. Refractive index (n15D) 1.3814. flash point 1.1℃. Low toxicity, LD50 (rat, oral) 3300mG/kG. flammable, vapor can form explosive mixtures with air, explosion limit 1.81%-11.5% (v/v). High concentration of vapor has anesthetic properties.
