Scientific research institutions of College of Animal Science, Guizhou University

Institute of Animal Diseases

The Institute of Animal Diseases is affiliated to the College of Animal Sciences of Guizhou University. It is located on the third floor of the Animal Science Building in the South District, with an area of 1,8 square meters and 136 main scientific research instruments, with a total value of more than 3 million yuan. There are 7 scientific researchers, including 4 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 lecturer and 1 experimenter. The Institute of Animal Diseases is a master's degree awarding point of preventive veterinary medicine, and it is affiliated with the doctoral program of zoology to recruit doctoral students in the research direction of basic animal medicine and preventive medicine. At present, there are 15 postgraduate students and 1 doctoral student.

In recent years, the Institute of Animal Diseases has formed four relatively stable research directions, namely, animal infectious diseases and preventive veterinary medicine, veterinary microbiology and immunology, veterinary hygiene and animal parasites and parasitology. The characteristic of this subject is to carry out basic research on etiology and immunology of animal infectious diseases that are seriously harmful in Guizhou Province, and to carry out applied research on laboratory diagnosis, pathological changes, monitoring system and immune control of livestock and poultry diseases by using modern biological technology. In particular, the relationship between antigens and virulence of virus-causing strains and strains, antigenicity and protective power of vaccines, and the relationship between the structure, function and regulation of pathogenic genes and the occurrence, development and prognosis of epidemic diseases are deeply studied, so as to understand the essence of epidemic diseases, effectively carry out etiology to prevent and control the epidemic of epidemic diseases and ensure the healthy development of animal husbandry. The short-term development plan of the Institute of Animal Diseases is as follows: (1) Training excellent veterinary science and technology workers (undergraduates, master students and doctoral students); (2) To undertake scientific research projects of veterinary disciplines at the provincial and ministerial levels, and carry out basic research and applied research on major livestock and poultry diseases; (3) Develop and popularize veterinary diagnostic reagents and pilot vaccine products to solve the main animal infectious diseases that restrict the development of animal husbandry in our province; (4) Establish an early warning and monitoring system for infectious diseases of people and livestock, and enhance the ability to control sudden epidemics.

1. In 25, the project "Study on the Etiological Relationship between Sudden Death of Guizhou Black Goat and Clostridium Bacteria" hosted by the Institute of Animal Diseases won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of Guizhou Provincial People's Government; In 26, the project "Molecular Basic Research on the Pathogenicity of Newcastle Disease Virus" won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of Guizhou Provincial People's Government.

2. In 25, the Institute of Animal Diseases presided over and successfully completed two key agricultural science and technology projects in Guizhou Province, namely, "Study on Diagnosis, Monitoring and Prediction of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Guizhou Province" [Qian Ke He Nong She Zi (21) No.1138] and "Study on Diagnosis and Prevention of Goat Pox in Guizhou Province" [Qian Ke He Nong She Zi (23) No.ngy7]. In 26, he presided over and successfully completed one natural science project of Guizhou Provincial Department of Education and two scientific and technological projects of Guiyang City, and the project "Study on Diagnosis and Prevention of Goose Parvovirus Infection in Guizhou Province", which was identified by experts organized by the Provincial Department of Education on July 2, 26. On November 1th, 26, the projects of "Investigation and Comprehensive Prevention of Pigs Atrophic Rhinitis in Guiyang" and "Monitoring and Forecasting of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Guiyang" were appraised by experts organized by Guiyang Science and Technology Bureau, and the research results reached the domestic advanced level.

Guizhou Embryo Transplantation Technology Research Center

Guizhou Embryo Transplantation Technology Research Center was established in 1991 with the approval of the provincial editorial board, affiliated to Guizhou University (formerly Guizhou Agricultural College). Since the establishment of the center, based on the principle of developing academics, opening cooperation and closely serving local economic construction, it has continuously improved, perfected and improved embryo engineering technology on the basis of cow, sheep and pig embryo transplantation and related biotechnology. Improve the pregnancy rate of embryos, and carry out research on the integrated technology of efficient embryo transfer in cattle, sheep and pigs, embryo sex identification, embryo cutting, embryo production in vitro, in vitro fertilization, embryo cryopreservation, and the development mechanism of early embryos. The center has more than 1 full-time and part-time researchers, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors and 3 lecturers, and has formed an academic research team with reasonable academic qualifications, professional titles and age structure. At present, we have embryo cryostat, portable veterinary B-ultrasound, carbon dioxide incubator, solid microscope, autoclave, abdominal endoscope, ultrasonic cleaning instrument, ultrasonic pregnancy diagnosis instrument, ultra-pure water instrument, liquid nitrogen tank, semen storage box and other instruments and equipment.

Since its establishment, the Center has undertaken more than 2 scientific research projects. Since 198s, it has carried out the research and popularization of embryo transfer and related biotechnology for cattle, sheep, pigs and rabbits, and completed the systematic research of bovine embryo transfer technology, and made many achievements in superovulation, estrus synchronization, embryo freezing, embryo quality identification, sex control and identification technology, embryo segmentation, in vitro culture and fertilization of oocytes, and the success rate of embryo transfer. Completed the provincial key projects in the Seventh Five-Year Plan and the Eighth Five-Year Plan, and obtained the calving records of 22 recipient cows and 28 calves (including 2 calves each). It provided a good demonstration for the improvement of local cattle breeds and trained the backbone of cattle breed improvement technology for local areas. The research results were popularized and applied in Zunyi and Huishui of Guizhou Province, and the success rate of embryo transfer reached 6%. Won one third prize and two fourth prizes of the provincial government for scientific and technological progress. The supporting technology of experimental animalization of Xiang pig was studied, and the embryo transfer Xiang pig was obtained for the first time in our province. In recent years, The center mainly undertakes the national scientific and technological research on supporting technologies for efficient production of high-quality milk and beef in karst mountainous areas in southwest China, the provincial tenth five-year plan scientific and technological research project "Utilization of crossbreeding advantages of beef cattle", the provincial technological innovation plan for small and medium-sized enterprises "Development and industrialization demonstration of beef cattle breeding technology", and the provincial eleventh five-year plan major scientific and technological research project "Technology integration and industrialization demonstration of high-quality and efficient production of beef cattle and pork pigs". The provincial science and technology basic platform "Guizhou experimental animal Xiang pig resources development and research and application", the provincial fund "mammalian embryo glass freezing research", "PCR research on sex identification of early bovine embryos" and other research work. It has also established cooperation and exchange relations with the relevant laboratories of many domestic teaching and research institutions, such as the French National Center for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development, Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Agricultural University, Third Military Medical University of PLA, Zhejiang University, etc.
