What to look out for when buying contact lenses for the first time

Many first-time 4-inLOOK contact lens buyers have asked our customer service, "What do I need to pay attention to when I wear contact lenses for the first time?" The same question comes up a lot, so this time our 4-inLOOK contact lens experts have summarized some of the precautions again for first time wearers to share.

1. When wearing contact lenses for the first time, 4-inLOOK contact lens specialists recommend gradually extending the wearing time in accordance with the prescribed time, so that your eyes can slowly adapt to the contact lenses. Please refer to the following table for specific instructions: Days 1 2 3 4 5 hours 4 6 8 10 12 2. Before wearing contact lenses, please distinguish between the front and back of the lenses, as it is uncomfortable to wear the back side of the lenses on your eyes.

2. Please experience the comfort and clarity of your contact lenses every time you wear them. If there is any discomfort or lack of clarity, please remove the lenses and carefully examine the cause, or ask your fitters to help you find the cause.

3. If you wear contact lenses while wearing makeup, the correct procedure is to put on your contact lenses before applying makeup, and to remove your contact lenses before removing your makeup.

4. Have your eyes and lenses checked by your fitter on a regular basis. The checkups are: 1st week, 1st month, 3rd month and every 6 months. Your fitter will be able to provide you with guidance and assistance that will help you to wear contact lenses in a healthy manner.

5. You should wash your hands before wearing contact lenses and before removing contact lenses, and if you do not wash your hands, please wash them carefully with soap. Because the main cause of eye discomfort from wearing contact lenses is not washing your hands.

6. Before handling contact lenses, please see if your fingernails are too long. If your nails are too long, cut them short and polish them. If your nails are too long, they will not only scratch your lenses, but also your eyes.

7. Please put a clean paper towel on a clean, flat desktop every time you handle contact lenses, so that if your lenses slip off, you can pick them up from the paper towel and rinse them a little before wearing them again. If you do not dispose of your lenses on the table, in case they slip onto the floor, you will have to rinse and disinfect them again before wearing them.

8. Please take a good look at your lenses before each contact lens fitting to see if they are clean and not broken, and if there is a lot of sediment, please clean them carefully again. If there is a lot of sediment, please clean it carefully. If it is broken, please do not wear it anymore.

9. Do you wear contact lenses overnight? If you are using regular soft contact lenses, please do not wear them overnight. Because the oxygen permeability of ordinary soft contact lenses is poor, it is fine to wear them during the daytime, but wearing them overnight will make your eyes suffocate from lack of oxygen.

10. Please don't put any eye drops in your contact lenses, because the ingredients of eye drops will accumulate in the lenses, which will not only make the lenses harder and less transparent, but also irritate your eyes. Wearing contact lenses can only drop contact lens-specific eye drops.

11. How long have you had your contact lenses? If you don't remember, please check your invoice and refresh your memory. Typically, conventional contact lenses are good for six months to a year. Disposable lenses should be used according to the product instructions, so do not exceed the expiration date of your lenses.

12. If you get a cold or fever while wearing contact lenses, remove the lenses and wait until your condition has resolved before continuing to wear them.

13. If you have to take certain medications to treat other medical conditions while wearing contact lenses, please ask your doctor if the medication will prevent you from wearing contact lenses.

14. Your contact lenses should be used only by you and not by anyone else, even if they have the same amount of nearsightedness as you, as other tears may irritate your eyes.

15. If you are wearing contact lenses and suddenly experience eye pain, tearing, or redness, please remove the lenses immediately and go to the hospital to have the cause checked by a doctor.

16. If your myopia is different in both eyes, please make sure to separate your right eye from your left eye when storing your lenses. The best way to take care of your lenses is to take care of them right before left, so you don't mix up the lenses for your two eyes. If you put on the lenses and feel that one eye is particularly unclear, then the lenses for the right and left eyes may be reversed, so please contact your prescriber.

17. Have you carefully cleaned the front and back of your lenses by rubbing them radially every time you take them off? Please do not neglect rubbing the lenses as this will remove most of the dirt and bacteria from the lenses.

18. After each rubbing, do you rinse the lenses well with the care solution. Please don't neglect rinsing your lenses as it greatly improves the effectiveness of your lens cleaning.

19. After you have cleaned and rinsed your lenses, place them in the lens case to soak and sterilize. Typical all-in-one solutions take at least 4 hours to sterilize or soak overnight. The Vision 10 Minute Total Care Solution only requires a 10-minute soak to complete the entire sterilization process.

20. Do you regularly use deproteinizer tablets to remove tear protein deposits that accumulate on contact lenses on a weekly basis? Although the All-In-One solution is very effective at removing protein deposits, I recommend that you use the Depyrogena tablets on a weekly basis to keep your lenses cleaner and more comfortable. It is important to rub and rinse your lenses carefully before using the deproteinizing tablets, and after soaking your lenses in the deproteinizing solvent, don't forget to rub and rinse your lenses carefully with the All-In-One Conditioning Solution to make your cleaning twice as easy as it should be.

21. 3 months after the bottle of All-In-One Treatment is opened, even if it is not used up, please throw away the bottle. Because the full-featured care liquid will be contaminated by the outside world after opening the bottle. If the retention period is too long, it will not only fail to disinfect your lenses, but also dirty your lenses.

22. Do you use hydrogen peroxide for your lenses? This is a wise choice. Not only is hydrogen peroxide solution a reliable and thorough disinfectant, it is also easy to use, but it is important to remember that you should never put hydrogen peroxide solution directly into the eye without catalytic neutralization. The catalytic neutralization time of the solution is at least 6 hours.

23. Never use tap water, distilled water, mineral water, or preservative-free saline to rinse and care for your lenses. Because these water agents do not have the function of cleaning and sterilizing, using them for a long time can make your lenses moldy or deformed.

24. Please do not use detergent, soap powder and other items to clean soft contact lenses. Because these items not only have a destructive corrosive effect on the lens, but also will be drilled into the micropores of the lens material, when you wear the lens chronic stimulation injury to your eyes.

25. Do you wear contact lenses intermittently? If you don't wear your lenses every day, keep your lenses in Total Care solution on the days you don't wear them, and change your Total Care solution every 3-5 days. If you are using a hydrogen peroxide solution, you can soak your lenses in the solution, catalytically neutralize them with a platinum ring, and screw the cap on tightly. If the lenses are not used for a long time, you should change the peroxide solution once a month.

26. If your contact lenses have not been worn for a few days, please carefully clean, rinse, soak, and disinfect your lenses once a day in advance with a full-featured care solution, or care for them once with a hydrogen peroxide care solution, so that you can use them with confidence the next day.

27. Please check if your eyeglasses case or lens bottle is dirty, if it is dirty, please brush them with soap inside and outside, and soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes. If you use full-featured care solution, it is recommended that you use a disposable case, only one case per bottle of care solution, and when the care solution is finished, the lens case will be discarded.

28. Please do not use tweezers, cotton swabs and other tools to remove the lenses, because such tools can damage the lenses accidentally and are not easy to sterilize. The best way to use them is to manipulate the lenses with a fully cleaned finger.

29. Please do not use the electric lens cleaner, because it is easy to damage the lenses by using the electric cleaner for a long time, and the cleaning effect of this kind of cleaner on the lenses is limited, the best way is to clean the lenses by rubbing with a well-cleaned finger.
