Is the exhibition company the organizer?

Convention and exhibition company is not the organizer, the exhibition company to undertake the government, enterprises, institutions, universities and other non-profit organizations to organize all kinds of international and domestic conferences, product launches, forums, seminars, annual meetings, celebrations and performances and other activities. That is to say, the exhibition company to undertake the "organizer" of the exhibition or other activities.

The organizer of the exhibition is the organization that has the legal qualification and qualification to initiate and hold the exhibition or conference and its supporting activities.

In the international exhibition industry, the organizer of a commercial exhibition is called the organizer. In the exhibition industry, the organizer is indispensable for any exhibition project.

Exhibition planning is a business work under the leadership or authorization of exhibition organizers. The exhibition planning work must serve and obey the needs of the organizer. In other words, the exhibition planning work can never be separated from the needs of the organizer and exist separately.

In China, the organizers of exhibitions are mainly divided into three categories: government, social groups or companies.

I. Convention and exhibition projects sponsored by the government and its departments

In China, the government and its departments that sponsor conventions and exhibitions include the central and local levels. The central government hosts conventions and exhibitions, and the organizers are basically the constituent departments of the State Council, such as the Ministry of Commerce, which has been hosting the China Export Commodities Fair ("Canton Fair") since 1956. Local governments to host exhibitions, as the organizer of the main provinces (autonomous regions) municipalities and provincial capital city governments and their constituent departments, but also some of the prefecture-level or county-level government as the organizer.

Exhibitions organized by the government and its departments are called "government exhibitions" in the industry.

Conferences organized by the government and its departments are called "official conferences" in the industry.

An exhibition or conference organized by the government and its departments, the ownership of the exhibition or conference program belongs to the government.

The Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) is the administrative department of the State Council in charge of commerce and trade, and it is also the competent organization of the exhibition industry. After the reform and opening up, the Ministry of Commerce has not only participated in organizing dozens of domestic exhibitions, but also made clear the key exhibition projects organized by the department around the theme of international trade during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

According to incomplete statistics, each year by the local government sponsored by the economic and trade theme of the exhibition no less than 500, of which, most of the annual institutionalization of the project.

In recent years, some local governments have set up expo bureaus specializing in the operation of large-scale local "government exhibitions". Such as Guangxi Autonomous Region Expo Bureau specializing in "China - ASEAN Expo" hosting work, Jilin Province Expo Bureau specializing in "China - Northeast Asia Expo" hosting work.

Second, the exhibition projects organized by social groups

The social groups organizing exhibitions in China are mainly divided into three categories: industry associations, professional societies and chambers of commerce.

Among the industry associations, almost all of the manufacturing industry associations run exhibitions in their own industries. It is expected that each year by the national manufacturing industry associations to host large-scale exhibitions (exhibition area of more than 50,000 square meters), the number of not less than 150. At present, there are more than 30 large-scale exhibitions on tour in China, mostly organized by industry associations. Therefore, the exhibition of industry associations in the domestic exhibition industry, especially in the large-scale professional exhibition projects, has a pivotal position.

Professional societies are the main force in organizing conferences. For example, the Chinese Medical Association and its professional committees hosted as many as 249 academic conferences in 2012. Industry associations also host a large number of meetings.

The Chamber of Commerce organizes exhibitions, focusing on the CCPIT, the Federation of Industry and Commerce two systems. Among them, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade to organize exhibitions not only a long history, but also more projects. The Commission is entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce, responsible for domestic organizations to run exhibitions out of the country or the administrative approval of the group exhibition work.

Third, the company-sponsored exhibition projects

Domestic companies hosting exhibitions or conferences can be broadly divided into four types:

First, state-owned enterprises.

The number of state-owned exhibition companies is small, but there are all over the world. Among them, especially "China Foreign Trade Center" (under the Ministry of Commerce, the agency is located in Guangzhou), "China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation" (under the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the company is located in Beijing) and "Shanghai Donghao Group Corporation" (under the Shanghai Municipal Government), "China International Trade Center Group Corporation" (under the Shanghai Municipal Government) and "Shanghai Donghao Group Corporation" (under the Shanghai Municipal Government). "(affiliated to Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, located in Shanghai) are the strongest. These three organizations, with "North, Shanghai and Guangzhou" as their base camps, have self-owned large-scale exhibition venues/conference venues, which are representative of large-scale enterprises in China's exhibition industry, not only dominating the area but also radiating to the whole country and even overseas. China International Travel Service (CITS) and China Youth Travel Service (CYTS) are large state-owned holding companies that organize more conferences.

Secondly, foreign companies.

Foreign-funded exhibition companies entering China, with German-funded and British-funded companies, there are nearly 20. Reed Exhibitions, which ranks first in terms of revenue scale in the global exhibition industry, entered China in the 1980s, and organized 53 exhibitions across China in 2013, covering a wide range of fields, including energy, electronics manufacturing and assembly, machine tools and metal processing, construction, medicine and medical devices, automotive aftermarket, packaging, gifts and home, and tourism. Reed Exhibitions has established six exhibition companies in China through project acquisitions and joint ventures. Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, established in 2006 with China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, currently organizes 14 pharmaceutical and medical exhibitions in China, covering the following segments: APIs, pharmaceuticals, household medicines, veterinary medicines, healthcare products, pharmaceutical equipments, medical equipments, laboratory instruments, stomatology, pharmacies, hospital management, and so on. Market Segmentation. Rarely seen in the country to run the conference for the business of foreign companies.

Third, private companies.

Domestic private exhibition companies have emerged since the early 1990s, with many early entrepreneurs starting their business in Guangzhou and then spreading to the whole country. By 2012, there were about 4,000 private exhibition companies, the largest number of organizers in China's exhibition industry.

The number of private companies in the conference industry is low, and even fewer are influential.

Fourth, media organizations.

Media organizations have always been keen to host meetings. In recent years, many local party newspapers to broaden the field of development, increasingly involved in the exhibition industry. The use of their own advertising customers, passenger cars, real estate, tourism, food as the theme of the exhibition business, become a new army in the exhibition market.

Most of the official media organizations in the country operate as corporations, and the unofficial media are corporations institutionally. Therefore, the media organization is classified as a company to run exhibitions and conferences.
