The basic structure of a medical information database

Basic StructureMedical information databases, i.e., medical databases, have a basic structure in three levels, reflecting three different perspectives from which the database is viewed.

The database composed of the inner schema as a framework is called the physical database, which is the innermost layer of the database, a collection of data actually stored on the physical storage device. These data are raw data, objects processed by the user, and consist of bit strings, characters, and words processed by instruction operations described by the internal schema.

The data composed in the framework of the conceptual schema is called the conceptual database

The database composed in the framework of the external schema is called the user database.
