Minhang District is located in the southwestern part of Shanghai, the birth of the ancient culture of the bridge over the horse, with a 4,000-year history, the existing area of 371.68 square kilometers. 371.68 square kilometers, the longest north-south about 30 kilometers, the widest east-west about 31.5 kilometers, with a population of 678,000 people, around the Pudong New Area, Xuhui, Changning, Jiading, Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian and other districts border. Minhang District is located in the southeast frontier of the Yangtze River Delta, in the abdomen of Shanghai, southwest of the central city, shaped like a "key". It is located at 31.05 degrees north latitude and 121.25 degrees east longitude. East and Xuhui District, Pudong New Area; south by the Huangpu River and Fengxian District; west and Songjiang District, Qingpu District border; north and Changning District, Jiading District adjacent; and Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone and Caohejing High-tech Development Zone connected to the Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the area, Hongqiao International Airport is located in the district border. Lacustrine Plain

Coastal Plain

Old coastal plain. West from Shagang, east to the east of Humin Road, Hengjing Port, in the district about 2 km wide, land area of about 7.2 square kilometers. Ground elevation 4.1 ~ 4.6 meters, showing a slightly rising trend from west to east. Its surface and shallow sediments are similar to the ancient coastal plain.
Early coastal plain. It spans a 1.8-kilometer-wide area in the eastern part of Minhang District and all of Wujing District. The elevation is 4.4 to 4.8 meters.

The area under the jurisdiction of the former Minhang District was historically part of Shanghai County. The history of Shanghai County can be traced back to more than 4,000 years ago according to the excavated artifacts from the Maqiao Ancient Cultural Site. Four major industrial parks
Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone - approved by the State Council in August 1986, it is a state-level economic and technological development zone with a total area of 3.5 square kilometers. The total area is 8.3 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers are industrial area and the rest are comprehensive supporting area. The park will focus on the development of information industry with microelectronic design, computer and software, and optoelectronics as the main industries, and at the same time focus on the development of new materials, biomedical engineering, aerospace, new energy, electronic instrumentation and other high-tech industries, as well as the introduction of high-level service and service trade enterprises. 2004 Caohejing Development Zone Pujiang Hi-Tech Park (including the Export Processing Zone) contracted to absorb foreign investment of $10,350,000, with actual foreign investment in place of 7400,000 U.S. dollars. Caohejing Export Processing Zone (EPZ) - Caohejing Export Processing Zone (EPZ) was approved by the State Council in March 2003 as a new export processing zone. Xinzhuang Industrial Zone--Xinzhuang Industrial Zone is a municipal industrial zone approved by the municipal government in August 1995, and is located in the town of Xinzhuang. Approved by the State Council in July 2004 as a state-level economic and technological development zone, the park is funded by the Minhang District and the Shanghai Caohejing Emerging Technology Development Zone Development Corporation***. The total area is 8.3 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers are industrial area and the rest are comprehensive supporting area. The park takes information industry, biomedical industry, auto parts and electromechanical industry, and new materials as the four leading industries. At present, it has famous enterprises such as Dibit, AT&S, SGD NEC and so on. Most of the projects in the park have entered the output period.
In 2005, Xinzhuang Industrial Park introduced 56 foreign investment projects, with total investment of 324 million US dollars, contracted foreign investment of 156 million US dollars, and capital in place of 150 million US dollars. By the end of 2005, there were 264 Chinese and foreign enterprises settled in Xinzhuang, 158 enterprises put into production, and the total export amounted to 737 million US dollars.
Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone:
Approved by the State Council in August 1986, Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone is a state-level economic and technological development zone with a total area of 3.5 square kilometers. The zone is located in the southwestern part of Minhang District, on the north bank of the upper reaches of Huangpu River. It is 47 kilometers away from Zhanghuabang International Container Terminal, 15 kilometers away from Guangang International Marine Terminal, 27 kilometers away from Hongqiao International Airport, and 30 kilometers away from downtown Shanghai. The nearby Humin Expressway leads directly to downtown and the national highway network. Railway line 5 directly connects the development zone to the city center.
In 2005, it realized total industrial output value of 27.732 billion yuan, sales revenue of 29.441 billion yuan, profit of 2.992 billion yuan and export delivery value of 5.752 billion yuan. At present, there are Mitsubishi Elevator, Coca-Cola, Fuji Xerox, Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, Sino-American Schweppes and other internationally famous multinational corporations to invest in the development zone. General equipment manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, instrumentation and cultural office machinery manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing are the leading industries in the park, and the output value of these industries accounts for 61.9% of the park's output value.
