Which disease is suitable for traction

The so-called traction therapy, is the application of mechanics in the role of external forces (manipulation, instruments or electric traction device) on a part of the body or joints to exert traction, so that a certain degree of separation occurs, the surrounding soft tissues to get appropriate stretching, to achieve the treatment of wood, a rehabilitation therapy. Clinically, many diseases in orthopedics and rehabilitation can be treated with traction therapy, and the therapeutic effect is exact. According to the different treatment parts, traction is divided into cervical traction, lumbar traction, joint traction, etc.; according to the different equipment configuration, it is divided into mechanical traction, electric traction, and ordinary traction, three-dimensional (four-dimensional) traction. Traction therapy is widely used in clinic, such as intervertebral disc herniation, degenerative spinal lesions, paraspinal musculoskeletal fasciitis, small spinal joint disorders, acute and chronic neck and back pain, lumbar back pain and lumbar and leg pain, limb joints stiffness and myalgia, fracture reset and so on, can be utilized in the traction therapy method. Traction therapy in clinical treatment has at least the following four aspects of the role, first, through traction therapy can release muscle spasm, relieve pain; is able to loosen the soft tissue adhesions, stretching contracture of the joint bundles and ligaments, correcting the joints of the micro-anomalous changes; third, it is able to improve the local blood circulation, is conducive to the repair of damaged soft tissues, and promote the absorption of edema and inflammation subsides; fourth, it is able to enlarge the vertebral space and the foramen ovale, and change the relationship between the herniated material and the surrounding tissue. Fourthly, it can enlarge the intervertebral space and intervertebral foramen, change the relationship between the herniated material and the surrounding tissues, reduce the pressure on the nerve root and improve the clinical symptoms. Although traction therapy can treat a variety of diseases, there are some diseases that are not suitable, such as acute soft tissue injury, congenital spinal deformity, spinal inflammation, tumors, spinal cord obvious decompression, severe osteoporosis, unstable chronic joint rheumatism, various malignant diseases, as well as accompanied by hypertension or cardiovascular disease patients can not be performed traction therapy. For example, patients with cervical instability (such as rheumatoid arthritis, cervical hypermobility), cricoarytenoid subluxation with symptoms of spinal cord compression and acute cervical spine injury are not suitable for the application of cervical spine traction, and patients with insufficient blood supply of vertebral basilar arteries should be cautious in choosing cervical spine traction. Lumbar traction should also be used with caution in patients with acute gastric and duodenal ulcers, abdominal aortic aneurysms, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or other causes of dyspnea, obvious cauda equina compression, and women during menstruation and pregnancy.
