Tan Tock Seng Hospital is a distinguished brand with a history of over 100 years. Established in 1844, Tan Tock Seng Hospital was named after Mr. Tan Tock Seng, the philanthropist who founded the hospital. Currently, it is the second largest acute general hospital in Singapore, with 1,200 beds and a wide range of state-of-the-art medical equipment, medical devices and the latest in communication and information technology (IT) appliances.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital has 24 medical departments and a full range of ancillary specialty services, with strengths in Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, Respiratory Medicine and Rheumatology, as well as Allergy and Immunology. It is also a major referral center for geriatrics, general surgery, emergency medicine, diagnostic radiology, gastroenterology, otolaryngology, and orthopedic surgery. It also has two major specialty centers, namely the Rehabilitation Medicine and Infectious Disease Centers. The International Federation of Hospitals Accreditation (IFHA) quality accreditation of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) recognizes the hospital's main hospital, the Centre for Infectious Diseases (CID), the Foot Care and Prosthetics Centre (FCPC) and the Tan Tock Seng Rehabilitation Centre (TTRC) for providing world-class patient care and comprehensive, high-calibre healthcare services.

Tan Tock Seng Hospital was the designated screening and treatment center in Singapore when SARS hit in 2003. Today, TKH continues to conduct research on emerging infectious diseases to identify the best treatment options.
